The Catalog Project Engineer plays a critical technical role in the development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of photo product catalogs for a worldwide eCommerce platform.  As a key contributor within the Systems and Software Development (SSD) group in the Imaging Division, this position requires hands-on expertise working closely with graphic photo product catalogs that delight customers globally.

This role demands a strong technical aptitude combined with practical experience in Product Information Management (PIM), Digital Asset Management (DAM), Workflow systems, and scripting to automate catalog-related processes.  The Catalog Project Engineer is responsible for writing SQL queries, developing scripts, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring seamless catalog integration and deployment within the Direct To Consumer (D2C) retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and deploy photo product catalogs by leveraging SQL, scripting, and PIM/DAM workflows.
• Write, test, and optimize SQL queries to retrieve, transform, and load catalog data from various source systems.
• Create and maintain automation scripts to streamline catalog data processing, validation, and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate closely with graphic designers, developers, and product owners to understand catalog content requirements and technical specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system integration issues related to catalog ingestion, publishing, and data consistency.
• Implement and support catalog deployment pipelines ensuring timely and error-free release of product catalogs.
• Analyze catalog data quality metrics and work to resolve inconsistencies or data integrity issues.
• Document catalog data models, workflows, and deployment procedures and store in appropriate repositories.
• Hands-on testing and validation of catalog features and updates throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Interpret API documentation to integrate with catalog systems and related software platforms.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks, recommending technical solutions, and automating manual tasks.

Required Skills/Education

• BS/BA in technical discipline
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development involving complex data systems or eCommerce platforms.
• Strong proficiency in SQL including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and data manipulation.
• Skilled in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to develop automation solutions.
• Practical experience working directly with PIM, DAM, or catalog management systems.
• Solid knowledge of API integration and ability to consume/produce RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with hybrid Agile/Waterfall software development lifecycles.
• Experience using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps for issue tracking and project collaboration.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
• Ability to manage multiple technical tasks concurrently with attention to detail and quality.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Desired Skills

• Experience with photofinishing and printing industry workflows.
• Hands-on familiarity with Akeneo PIM, Bynder DAM, and Workato or similar workflow automation tools.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with analytical skills to troubleshoot complex data and system issues.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-changing technical environment.
• Experience writing and maintaining JavaScript for catalog-related enhancements or integrations.
