Job Description

Salary range for position: $90,000 - $110,000, commensurate with experience.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Project Engineer I plans facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs. Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes. Manages contracts and relationships with all contractors used in facilities related programs including but not limited to Janitorial, Security, Building Maintenance and Repair, Landscaping, Building Management System, etc.

 

KNOWLEDGE: Has limited experience in a wide-range of facilities concepts and applications, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

 

JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Internal and external contacts often pertain to company plans and objectives.

 

SUPERVISION: Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Project Lead). Be able to work with supervision on complex projects, but minimal supervision on regular tasks.

 

EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Actively enforces Dimatix’s safety rules; utilizes PPE and works to correct safety and environmental hazards.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish job functions.
  • Responsible for documenting preventive maintenance actions and schedules for facilities systems
  • Establish and manage key indicators that represent the health of facilities systems and seek opportunities for improvement
  • Maintains CAD layouts and develops strategic planning layouts; work with various groups and departments to help create improved layouts of work areas.
  • Plan and manage building improvement projects
  • Examines and approves engineering and architectural drawings and design computations for public buildings and places of employment to ensure compliance with sound engineering practices and established standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Conducts preliminary surveys and prepares schematic, preliminary, and work drawings for the construction and maintenance of new or remodeled structures and facilities.
  • Estimates cost of projects, writes contracts and specifications for labor, materials and equipment for construction projects, and secures bids from contractors.
  • Conducts periodic inspections of work in progress and advises construction supervisors and contractors on interpretation of plans and specifications and conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Consults with architects, engineers, owners, and contractors regarding preliminary layout, construction procedures, and code requirements that apply to building projects.
  • Conducts correspondence involving technical problems concerning structural engineering standards and code requirements.
  • Performs design computations involving determinations of strength of various materials through use of computers.
  • Designs and prepares plans of construction projects through use of computer aided design system.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence related to the work
  • Assist in forecasting annual capital budgets.
  • Flexible work schedule to accommodate 24x7 shift schedule for in-person observation/consultation.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

  • Will work as a project leader

  • Must have the ability to manage projects.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisory personnel and co-workers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
  • Demonstrated good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. 
  • Ability to interact with senior internal and external personnel.
  • Effective structured problem solving for working problems with diverse scope.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD

 

DESIRED:

  • Proficient in SAP
  • Knowledge and use of Theory of Constraints
  • Six Sigma knowledge (Green Belt level or higher)
  • Familiarity with Plant Design for Manufacturability

  • Must be able to work in all areas of facility including clean room.  Must be able to traverse all facility areas with electrical and mechanical systems in operation, for example accessing roof systems and mechanical spaces, etc

·         Job functions will be performed in an office environment, manufacturing industrial setting and a clean room manufacturing environment.

·         May potentially handle hazardous waste in accordance with the safe work practices defined in Hazardous Communication and Hazardous Waste training programs. Initial training is required upon hiring status and every 3 years thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste will insure that waste containers in their work areas are properly labeled and dated. Employees will ensure that waste containers are closed after transferring waste to them. Report any incidents involving hazardous waste to supervisor.
