The Role

 

The Process Operator performs bulk unloading for 70% HF, Phos, Nitric and Acetic. Resposabilities also include compounding of blend tanks including pilot plant operations in support of our R&D group, passivation of new containers, processing secondary market materials and packaging sampling of incoming raw materials and finished product.

Job Description

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Perform material handling operations as assigned.
  • Correctly document containers processed as required by standard operating procedure, including manual and electronic logs, forms, and labels.
  • Operate manual and automated equipment in support of job functions.
  • Communicate equipment status and outages to the plant coordinator and process supervisor, as needed for correct, safe operation. Assist maintenance to troubleshoot and operate equipment for repair activities.
  • Participate in operational, quality, and safety reviews, as assigned.
  • Complies with all Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulatory requirements for the operation of ammonia system and distillation processes.
  • Maintain job associated certifications for all Process Operator and Compounding tasks and additional tasks as determined by the supervisor.
  • Assists with compounding and sampling in support of blending operations.
  • Conduct tanker loading and unloading, including moving containers throughout the facility using yard tractor.
  • Participate in (ERT) Emergency Response Team.
  • Maintains housekeeping and safety requirements in a wide range of plant operations.
  • Complies with all process operator certification requirements and other certification requirements as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years chemical handling or equivalent experience required. High purity chemical or pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
  • Ability to be fitted for and wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to obtain ERT certification and maintain ERT requirements.
  • Ability to understand chemical compounding and sampling and communicate results effectively.
  • Currently possess or obtain forklift certification required. Prior experience in operating a forklift is preferred.
  • Must be fully qualified in at least one basic task certification within 3 months of hire and fully qualified at three other packaging certifications within 6 months of hire.
  • Previous or current tractor truck driving experience a plus.
  • Experience in operating a forklift and other manufacturing tools.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated abilities to work independently and as a team.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stoop, bend, climb and reach.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Must have a valid Arizona drivers’ license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work varied shifts to include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, including weekends.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment. One of the essential job functions is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
