Position Overview

The Sr. Business Operations Lead serves as a strategic operator and execution partner to the VP of Business Support, driving alignment, governance, and performance across Finance, Procurement, Project Controls, Legal, and Commercial within a rapidly scaling, greenfield CDMO environment. This role translates site strategy into clear functional priorities, KPIs, and execution plans, establishing the operating rhythm and governance needed to deliver multiple in-flight capital programs while building a scalable, self-sufficient operating model. Acting as an extension of the VP, the Business Operations Lead plays a central role in running the business, developing organizational capability, and leading high-impact cross-functional initiatives across startup and steady-state phases

Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Translates site strategy into aligned goals, KPIs, and priorities across Business Support functions.
  • Establishes clear lineage between strategy, initiatives, and performance outcomes; identify misalignment and drive corrective action.
  • Builds and maintains performance dashboards, review packs, and decision templates for leadership visibility.
  • Defines and leads ways of working, governance forums, and operating cadence (weekly/monthly/quarterly reviews).
  • Drives accountability through clear ownership, decision frameworks, and performance tracking.
  • Partners with the VP to manage day-to-day priorities and prepare materials for site, global, and corporate forums.
  • Drives visibility into budget, schedule, risks, and mitigations; support red-to-green recovery plans as needed.
  • Ensures alignment between project controls, finance, procurement, and execution timelines to reduce external reliance.

  • Institutionalizes capex governance, financial controls, and operational standards
  • Supports finance operating model development, FP&A cadence, and performance management frameworks.
  • Strengthens procurement, vendor management, and contract governance aligned to capital and operational needs.
  • Partners with commercial teams on financial modeling, pricing, and contract structuring.
  • Ensures alignment between commercial commitments and operational/financial capabilities.
  • Provides visibility into pipeline, revenue forecasts, and margin performance.
  • Supports leadership development programs (e.g., SOAR), career and succession planning, and capability building.
  • Fosters a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Leads high-priority initiatives from site leadership, global teams, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Provides structured problem-solving and decision support; lead complex business cases and bid support.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expertise in governance design, operating rhythms, portfolio management, and performance reporting.
  • Financial acumen across FP&A, capital planning, business case development, and budget stewardship.
  • Proficiency collaborating across Finance, Procurement, IT, Legal, Project Controls, and Commercial.
  • Strong program management skills, including risk management, dependency mapping, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Working experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Basic Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Engineering, or related field. With 12 years of applicable industry experience OR
  • Master’s degree in management, finance, Business, Engineering, or related field. With 10 years of applicable industry experience.
  • Experience in finance, strategic planning, or business analysis
  • 8+ years of experience in management consulting, finance, operations, or strategy.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives and establishing governance and performance management frameworks.
  • Experience with FP&A, capital planning, or business case development

Preferred Requirements / Certifications

  • Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience in biopharma, CDMO, manufacturing, or other capital-intensive environments.
  • Prior experience in greenfield startup or large-scale transformation settings.
  • Exposure to capital project delivery, project controls, or construction-to-operations transitions.
  • Familiarity with commercial operations, pricing, and contract  structuring.
  • PMP or equivalent program/project management certification.
  • Lean/Six Sigma, Prosci, or similar transformation/change certifications.
  • Finance-related certifications (e.g., CFA Level I) a plus.
  • CPA or CFA
