  • Apply in-depth knowledge of surface chemistry, organic/inorganic chemistry, electrochemistry, and interfacial phenomena to guide slurry development strategies.
  • Investigate interactions between slurry chemistries and dielectric/metal films, as well as surface interactions with functional components, understand CMP mechanisms, enhance slurry performance (e.g., removal rate, topography, defectivity), and minimize corrosion, metal contamination, and particle/byproduct re-adsorption.
  • Utilize advanced surface analytical techniques to characterize the chemical state, morphology, and interfacial properties of slurry components, CMP consumables, and processed wafer surfaces.
  • Develop and interpret surface interaction models (adsorption, tribology, corrosion, electrochemistry) to guide formulation design and performance optimization.
  • Serve as a key technical resource on slurry chemistry and fundamental studies for Applications, R&D, and Process Development/Manufacturing teams.
  • Conduct literature reviews and intellectual property searches, document findings, and present data to internal teams and external customers.
  • Present research results and insights through technical reports, internal reviews, customer presentations, and industry conferences.
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects in an organized and efficient manner, ensuring timely execution and delivery against objectives.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory work, including experimental design, testing, and chemical handling.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration within cross-functional teams, working well with other professionals in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on Surface Chemistry.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience with, and knowledge of, surface characterization metrology tools such as XPS, ToF-SIMS, Auger, SEM/EDS, FTIR, Raman, QCM-D, AFM, zeta potential, and DLS, etc.
  • Industry R&D experience in surface chemistry, CMP materials or processes, or related semiconductor fields is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic materials including metals, barrier liners, and dielectrics with an understanding of their physical and chemical properties.
  • Expertise in colloidal chemistry, particle science, and formulation design, with knowledge of corrosion and electrochemistry (EIS, CV, corrosion testing) considered a plus.
  • Highly motivated, creative, and passionate about R&D leading to high-impact commercial products for the semiconductor industry.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical data to cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects effectively; analytical mindset with experimental skills and attention to detail.
