The Role

 

The Facilities Engineering Manager will provide Facilities, Capital, and Project oversite for the Mesa, AZ facility. They will manage the facilities capital program, adhering to all laws (PSM/RMP), supporting the Mesa safety, environmental, and quality systems, supporting business requests for information and new product development.

 

This position oversees the maintenance, operation, and improvement of building systems (UPW, HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and infrastructure, ensuring safety and compliance. They lead engineering teams, manage budgets, direct maintenance staff, and coordinate vendor contracts. Key roles involve capital project execution, ensuring 24/7 reliability, and driving efficiency improvements in facilities.

Job Description

Key responsibilities for this role include:

 

Operations Management

  • Directing daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of critical facility and utility systems (e.g. UPW, HVAC, electrical) to ensure safe, continuous operations.

Project Leadership

  • Planning and executing capital projects, facility improvements, and new equipment installations to meet budget and schedule goals.

Team Leadership

  • Hiring, training, and managing engineers, technicians and maintenance staff, including mentoring and performance management to support professional development.
  • Give direction to third party contractors as required in support of project activities.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensuring all equipment and facilities meet regulatory standards, safety codes, and environmental regulations.

Budgeting & Strategy

  • Managing maintenance budgets (labor, parts, contractors) and developing long-term facility strategies. Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering department
  • Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities
  • Manage Capital Approval Process
  • Monitors progress against project schedules and budgets; recommends allocation of resources as required to accomplish goals
  • Monthly reporting of departmental metrics
  • Follow-up on permanent corrective action plans to resolve any outstanding issues related to quality, production, equipment, tooling, customers, and production controls
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, quality and cost to maintain profitability and competitiveness
  • Submitting and controlling the capital spending for the Formulated Products, TFS and CMP area via budgeting and current estimating
  • Member of the Management of Change Control Board which approves all change proposals
  • Member of the Material Review Board which approves all requests for material disposition

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering Degree
  • 10+ years Chemical Manufacturing Plant experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience including supervising and mentoring others
  • 5+ years Project Management experience
  • Strong computer skills for Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Preferred experience with SAP.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to communicate professionally with all levels in the organization
