Position Overview

The Enterprise Architect (EA) is a key member of FCDI IT, responsible for the end to end architecture blueprint (business, application, data, integration, and technology) that enables secure, compliant, and scalable digital capabilities. Operating in a regulated biotech environment, the EA drives standards, roadmaps, and solution patterns across FCDI and coordinates with sister companies (FLBC, FLBI) and shared services (HLUS/FLBG). The role balances a two speed model—validated, GxP “core” and agile “innovation edge”—to accelerate outcomes while maintaining reliability and compliance. Ardoq is the primary architecture management platform for modeling, governance, and reporting.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the enterprise architecture blueprint and target state roadmaps aligned to business strategy; publish quarterly updates in Ardoq.
  • Run/participate in the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and enforce standards, reference architecture, and reusable patterns with exception management.
  • Lead capability mapping and application/technology portfolio rationalization; define lifecycle/sunset plans and cost implications.
  • Define solution patterns for ERP/Finance, Manufacturing (MES/PAS X), Quality (QMS/ETQ or Veeva), Lab (LIMS/ELN), Data/AI, Collaboration (M365), and Core IT.
  • Specify non functional requirements (availability, performance, DR/RPO RTO, observability) and security controls for each solution.
  • Design data and integration architectures: Lakehouse patterns, semantic models, lineage, and iPaaS/API/event standards; document services and dependencies in Ardoq for impact analysis.
  • Embed “compliance by design” (21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, GMP, ALCOA+) in architectures and delivery methods; partner with QA/CSV for CSA/CSV traceability.
  • Coordinate with corporate security (HLUS/FLBG/CISO) on IAM/MFA/PAM patterns, segmentation, and secure coding; ensure vulnerability/patch expectations are reflected in designs.
  • Prepare audit/inspection evidence (diagrams, data flows, control mappings) directly from Ardoq workspaces.
  • Publish standards for cloud landing zones, network/segmentation, endpoint baselines, backup/DR tiers, observability, and ITSM integrations.
  • Partner with Core IT Ops on capacity planning, resilience testing, and platform roadmaps; keep CMDB/Ardoq alignment ≥90%.
  • Provide architecture leadership to projects (option assessments, ADRs); coach product owners and engineers; conduct design reviews and post implementation retros.
  • Build reusable toolkits: reference diagrams, IaC guardrails, API standards; curate them in Ardoq and the internal knowledge base.
  • Evaluate platforms/vendors; contribute to RFPs/contracts with architecture, security, and exit requirements.
  • Align with HLUS/FLBG on shared services and integrations; ensure SLAs, security, and compliance needs are met.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 8+ years in enterprise/solution architecture or senior engineering; biotech/pharma or regulated industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated governance leadership (standards, ARB, roadmaps) and portfolio rationalization.
  • Breadth across ERP/Finance; MES/QMS/LIMS/ELN; data platforms/lakehouse; cloud (Azure/AWS); identity/security fundamentals; ITSM/ServiceNow; integration (API/iPaaS, eventing).
  • Working knowledge of GxP/CSV/CSA, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, ALCOA+; experience supporting audits/inspections.
  • Proficiency with architecture modeling and EAM tools—Ardoq strongly preferred (or equivalent like LeanIX/MEGA)—including meta model design, integrations (e.g., CMDB, Git, CI/CD), and visualization.
  • Excellent communication with executives and technical teams; pragmatic, delivery-oriented mindset.
  • TOGAF or similar framework certification; ITIL v4 Managing Professional preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP/Oracle ERP; PAS X; ETQ/Veeva; LabWare/Benchling; OSI PI/AVEVA; Azure DevOps/GitHub; Terraform; Kubernetes/containers; Databricks/Snowflake/Power BI preferred.
