We are hiring a R&D Intern- Bioprocess. The R&D Intern-Bioprocess will be responsible for activities relating to formulation and lyophilization process improvements of cytokines and growth factors.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Identification of controlling factors to improve solubility, stability, and bioactivity of recombinant cytokines and growth factors in successful formulation and lyophilization process development studies which includes but not limited to design and execute lyophilization cycles with the focus on reducing moisture content, improving cake appearance, ease of reconstitution and maintaining activity.
  • Author development reports and present data to cross-functional teams.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues
  • Project Activities
    • Finding the impact of vial configuration (fill volume, vial size or vial type) as well as different lyophilization process impact on product quality
    • Optimizing the primary drying end point with respect to the sample/vial quantity/shelf temperature
    • Effect of different excipients on reconstitution time.
    • Impact of annealing steps on cake appearance.
  • Learning Objectives:
    • Learning protein-lyophilization work in depth 
  • Presentation 
    • Summarizing the project scope, work completed, key findings, and recommendations 

Required Skills/Education:

  • Must be at least a 2nd year bachelors student and returning student after the summer with a focus in Biological Science or Chemistry/Biochemistry
  • 1 year wet lab experience
  • Basic protein chemistry knowledge
  • Ability to use search engines/ scientific literature databases to find relevant information (e.g. perform literature searches).  
  • Experience with therapeutic protein formulation / lyophilization is desirable but not required.  
  • Clear theoretical knowledge of protein chemistry is required
  • Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
  • Good oral and written communication skills 

Salary and Benefits:

  • The base salary range for this position is $23.00-$25.00 per hour. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on the level of degree in pursuit.
