Position Overview

As the Engineering Technician, you will work closely with the manufacturing engineers in the setup, building, process optimization, failure analysis, scrap and cost reduction initiatives for manufactured ultrasound systems, transducers and/or accessories. 

 

This position requires a person who is self-starting, self-motivated, and a problem-solving team player able to work with minimal supervision.  We will rely on their sound judgment, decision-making qualities and forward-thinking to rise to meet the challenges of this important work.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Perform complex and detailed process work on ultrasound assemblies.
  • Perform failure analysis activities centered around disassembly and documentation of failed units.
  • Determination of scrapped parts final state based on disposition documents.
  • Assists in the setup of assembly and test processes including tooling/equipment  on manufacturing floor.
  • Follow assembly and test instructions while performing the tasks with solid quality.  
  • Perform specific performance tests during the assembling process.
  • Analyzes product performance per work instructions.
  • Provides suggestions for ways to improve products, assembling tools, assembling instructions, process, and equipment.
  • Perform general diagnostics and root cause analysis on failed units.
  • Maintains records and files of all completed engineering work per oral or document instructions.
  • Perform equipment setup, operation, repair, and basic daily/weekly preventative maintenance tasks (as required to meet all standards for safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Provides technical support with interdepartmental investigations and communications.
  • Ensures Support process engineers with new product design transfers, process development, equipment and process validations.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in engineering technology highly desired.
  • Minimum of 2+ years working as a technician

Skills/Abilities:

  • Have experience in manufacturing which includes: assembly, soldering, material casting, bonding, machining, dicing, testing and/or packaging.
  • Have proven ability to perform assembly by choosing and utilizing correct tools and methods.
  • Preferred experience with destructive tools such as sectioning saws, grinders/lappers, etc.
  • Preferred experience PCB debug and soldering
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and able to work for extended period of time under a microscope.
  • Moderate mechanical skills to support assembly and disassembly.
  • Read and understand simple schematic diagrams and assembly drawings/instructions.
  • Have operational understanding of common bench test equipment.
  • Able to use measuring tools to ensure correct tolerances.
  • Able to multitask and implement effective time management.
  • Is able to understand and interpret simple engineering terminology.
  • Must be disciplined in following established procedures/processes.
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to follow engineering directions with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds, with or without accommodations.
