Position Overview

The Director of Operations will be a key influencer in FUJIFILM Biotechnologies (FLB) across several areas of the business. The role will be responsible for identifying, planning, and driving improvements across select sites in the FLB network. These improvements will include, but not be limited to, productivity increases, costs savings, revenue increases, and systemic process changes.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have deep experience working across all levels of an organization to gain alignment to their vision, and in working in a matrixed fashion to execute the plans they jointly develop with stakeholders. The role requires technical expertise (conceptual, analytical, and quantitative problem solving), strong stakeholder management, and an ability to be efficient in actions, communications, and organization.  

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Site-level problem-solving: works with sites and functions to collect and analyze data, communicate findings, align on potential changes aimed at increasing enterprise value, lead execution of those changes, and share overall results across the business. The role will focus on commercial, manufacturing, supply chain, digital, quality, and other functional needs that have the potential to make FB more competitive and cost effective.  
  • Team mentoring: coaches and leads site teams through new ways of working in OpsExc to build and sustain an analytical approach to continuous improvement. Leads through example by collaborating with site teams to identify opportunities and supports data analysis to verify, quantify, and communicate potential opportunities across the network. Works with more junior members of the OpsExc team to build their skills and capabilities to do the same. 
  • Project management: works with sites and/or functions to manage deliverables and/or execution of changes identified and aligned. Prepares communications with site/functional teams to share status, successes, and support needed  
  • Other duties assigned from time to time, including but not limited to representing FLB in industry forums, participating in Company workshops, and interfacing with customers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Science or related field
  • A minimum of 8 years experience in a top management consultancy working in international firms with a focus on operations and/or commercial transformations.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Exposure to C-suite through shopfloor is necessary.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills, outstanding ability to build relationships/rapport with all levels, and a “get it done” mindset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Superb problem-solving skills, demonstrated through several years of work experience. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including exceptional email etiquette.
  • Proficiency in using office productivity tools such as Microsoft Office, calendar management software, and email platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential matters.
  • Adaptability and willingness to adjust tasks in response to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organization.  
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
