Position Overview

Summary: 

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the accounting, reporting and analysis of FUJIFILM Biotechnologies in TX accounting functions.  Responsibilities will include fixed assets as a primary function as well as month end close, data analysis, and operational accounting. This role requires to be highly organized, with a solid technical accounting knowledge base and excellent communication skills. The position involves successfully handling multiple projects with established timelines while ensuring audit readiness.

Job Description

Reports to                Controller

Work Location         College Station, TX 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports project managers in all facets of capital accounting and analysis, delivering monthly reports and ensuring audit compliance.
  • Partners with the Capital Projects Team for strategic projects, project managers, and key site personnel to enhance cost control and awareness of capital project costs.
  • Monitors and oversees the monthly and quarterly reporting and accounting of fixed assets in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Manages the full lifecycle of fixed assets, including Right of Use (ROU) assets, acquisition, capitalization, depreciation, impairment testing, and disposal, ensuring adherence to US GAAP and company policies.
  • Monitors and oversees the asset verification process in line with company policies.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and disclosures related to fixed assets, supporting external reporting obligations and audit processes.
  • Assist in maintaining effective internal controls over fixed asset accounting processes, ensuring adherence to US GAAP, SOX, and JSOX requirements.
  • Posts journal entries and reconciles general ledger accounts and transactions by comparing and correcting data. Gathers fixed asset-related tax information and data for annual tax return preparation.
  • Performs monthly and quarterly reconciliations of fixed asset sub-ledgers to the general ledger, investigating and resolving any variances or discrepancies promptly.
  • Monitors and report on project progress for local site projects and strategic capital initiatives.
  • Forecasts cash flow of site capex spend and minor strategic capital including variance analysis and explanations for major deviations from forecast, budget and re-budget and site P&L depreciation.
  • Actively participates in accounting system UAT-user acceptance testing, automation, and migration of fixed-asset related processes and balances. Leads process improvements around capital and fixed asset processes.
  • Identifies, presents, and implements solutions for process improvements, automation opportunities and enhanced area reporting capabilities. Maintains and regularly reviews and updates finance procedures applicable to the role.
  • Performs ad hoc analysis, projects and other duties as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting or other related field with 5+ years of accounting experienced, fixed asset accounting experience highly preferred; OR,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or other related field with 8+ years of accounting experience, fixed asset accounting experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in and knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principalities) and regulations required.
  • Experience in data analysis or forecasting required.
  • Experience in finance auditing preferred.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA fixed assets module or other modules strongly preferred.
  • Fixed asset accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with revenue recognition principles and accounting preferred.
  • Experience in FP&A and budgeting preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct in financial activities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to resolve discrepancies.
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Ability to deliver results with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Positive ‘can-do’ attitude willing to get the job done and done well.
  • Highly collaborative team player.
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to enhance relationships and networks with senior internal/external partners who are not familiar with the subject matter and require persuasion.

  • Ability to perform most daily tasks with little to no instructions, or with general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
