Position Overview

The Director, Drug Product (DP) Process Engineering leads and develops a team of engineers through fostering a culture of growth and development while ensuring alignment with the organizational goals. This role guides the engineering team with supporting capital projects, technology transfer (TT), and manufacturing operations for the Drug Product Finished Goods (DPFG) manufacturing facility. This role ensures effective management of process engineering tasks related to equipment installation, product introduction support, and system assessments. Serving as a key liaison with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The Director contributes to and supports the growth of DPFG. This role collaborates with various departments (e.g., Facilities, Manufacturing, QA/QC, and external contractors) to ensure successful project implementation and maintenance of complex equipment.

Job Description

What You'll Do

 

• Establishes the organization’s vision and mission, setting objectives to drive continuous improvement and growth of DPFG manufacturing
• Defines and leads Capex projects for the DPFG facility (e.g., building expansions or retrofits, specifying and procurement of new capital equipment)
• Provides strategic oversight and effective leadership to the Process Engineering team, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) provider
• Guides process engineering team on implementing process equipment, site utilities, and new technologies
• Ensures on time delivery and quality from FUJIFILM and EPCM provider for high complexity equipment packages
• Facilitates technology and manufacturing program development in support of specific clients and market opportunities
• Partners cross-functionally to identify areas for improvement, develop action plans, and collaborate to implement process enhancements
• Develops and monitors milestones, key performance indicators (KPIs) and achievements to ensure continued control of scope and track success, and communicates project outcomes to appropriate stakeholders
• Establishes and manages processes to maintain improvements and ensure long-term sustainability of gains
• Serves as the leader of Subject Matter Experts (SME) for DPFG Processes, offering guidance and support, as needed
• Facilitates and supports client, quality, and regulatory audits and inspections
• Advocates for process improvements by communicating the value and engaging employees in the transformation journey
• Prioritizes and directs the team in managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, budgets, and resources effectively align with the facility’s operational goals
• Works closely with internal and external groups to identify critical areas for improvement and implement actionable solutions
• Supports supplier technical evaluations, risk assessments, and equipment evaluation and qualification
• Encourages a culture that prioritizes continuous learning and development, including coaching and mentoring to ensure the team is positioned for growth
• Evaluates the teams’ performance, implements measures to improve productivity and engagement, and develops high-potential employees
• Partners with HR, Talent Acquisition, and various stakeholders to recruit talent and create retention strategies
• Performs other duties, as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field with 13+ years of engineering experience within a regulated environment; or
• Master’s degree in relevant engineering field with 11+ years of engineering experience within a regulated environment;

• 10+ years of people management, leadership & team management experience

 

Preferred Requirements:

 

• Master’s degree in relevant engineering field

 

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

 

May work in Mechanical/Production spaces that may require hearing protection and enrollment in a hearing conservation program.

Ability to discern audible cues.

Ability to inspect or perform a task with 20/20 corrected vision, visual acuity, including distinguishing color.

Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc.
