Position Overview

The Director, Clean Utilities is responsible for the ongoing operations of all clean utility systems (WPU, WFI, Clean Air, Clean Steam, Gases) to support Fujifilm’s $3.4B expansion in Holly Springs, North Carolina. This role provides leadership for all utilities engineering focused initiatives and activities and monitors operational milestones and achievements to ensure successful transition in site operations and continued delivery in sustaining operations. Additionally, this role collaborates extensively with internal and external stakeholders ensuring that site team adheres to Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP), and the ways of working, problem-solving best practices, and lessons learned are reviewed promptly. The Director ensures that the right people are assigned to the right tasks and projects providing challenge and enhancement to their skills.

We are growing our locations and are investing more than $2 billion into establishing a new large-scale manufacturing site for biopharmaceuticals in the United States to accelerate the growth of our Bio CDMO (Contract and Development Manufacturing Organization) business. This will be the largest end-to-end cell culture CDMO provider in North America.

 

The new site will offer end-to-end solutions to our customers looking to manufacture biopharmaceuticals in the US. In addition to drug substance manufacture, it will also provide automated fill-finish and assembly, packaging, and labeling services. The new state-of-the-art facility is located in Holly Springs, North Carolina, United States.

 

Job Description

What You’ll Do

 

•Provides strategic oversight for the complex engineering design and       processes required to construct, validate, and operate the Clean           Utilities Systems at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies’ Holly Springs site
•Designs and implements efficiency improvement methods to ensure that   site teams quickly adopt improved work methods, best practice solutions,   and lessons learned are reviewed and incorporated
•Ensures team members are strategically placed in positions and on projects   where their skills are effectively utilized and challenged while promoting   individual growth and organizational productivity
•Provides leadership for all cross-functional engineering focused initiatives and activities
•Empowers and leads a multi-disciplined team with energy and focus   through completion of project and into operations
•Develops, drives, and monitors milestones, key performance indicators   (KPIs) and achievements to ensure continued control of scope
•Works closely with internal groups (e.g., CQV, Process Engineering, etc.)  to   maintain FDBN’s “One Team” approach
•Develops and manages budget related to departmental activities
•Prioritizes and fosters a strong cost and schedule adherence mindset within the engineering scope to maintain FDBN’s commitment of “Unprecedented Delivery”
•Encourages a culture where continuous learning and development are   prioritized, including coaching and mentoring to ensure the team is   positioned for growth
•Evaluates the teams’ performance, implements measures to improve   productivity and engagement, and develops high-potential employees
•Partners with HR, Talent Acquisition, and various stakeholders to recruit   talent and create retention strategies
•Performs other duties, as assigned

 

Required Skills

•Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field with 13+ years of   engineering experience within a regulated environment; or
•Master’s degree in relevant engineering field with 11+ years of engineering   experience within a regulated environment
•10+ years of people management, leadership & team management   experience
•Experience executing within a dynamic and fast paced environment

 

Preferred Education and Experience Requirements

•Master’s degree in relevant engineering field
•Experience within facility commissioning and CGMP validation scopes

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • May work in Mechanical/Production spaces that may require hearing protection and enrollment in a hearing conservation program. 
  • Ability to discern audible cues.
  • Ability to inspect or perform a task with 20/20 corrected vision, visual acuity, including distinguishing color.
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc.
