Position Overview

The Receiving Material Control Clerk performs receiving functions such as daily FedEx/UPS deliveries, container off loading and material put away, completes ERP material transactions for all material receipts within the material handling area of the Performance Controls Division of HCUS. This position also performs shipping support tasks as needed. The primary, day to day, receiving tasks include, but are not limited to, receiving inventory and other goods from the loading docks, recording the receipt of these materials in the ERP system, and online network-based data folders. This role also distributes the goods to the appropriate department and/or stock locations including pulling and collecting kits of materials to be provided for assembly work cells. The day-to-day receiving activities include, but are not limited to, the packing and/or creating of PCI products. Support tasks include but are not limited to, preparing shipping containers, cartons for final product shipments, and work cell stock replenishments, and kitting materials for contract manufacturing. This role follows all required safety protocols of the facility.

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Support the receipt of materials (75% of time spent) 
    • Receive and count all incoming materials daily to ensure the accuracy of the deliveries.
    • Perform computer functions to record the daily receipt of material to ensure ERP/MRP accuracy, provide updates via email, update network-based Excel spreadsheets.
    • Move received material to locations indicated in the inventory system (to stock or point of use production areas) by using the appropriate handling equipment (forklift/hand truck).
    • Replenish work cell from stock locations to satisfy a complete kit of materials used to build an assembly, checking for work cell shortages, replenishing the shortage identified.
  • Support production schedules and organization of work area (10% of time spent)
    • Prepare shipping documents (including international documents) for final product shipments.
    • Use web-based shipping applications to schedule pick-ups from carriers such as UPS.
    • Prepare products in the designed packing for shipping.
    • Modify wood crates for packaging and pack sufficiently to protect product during shipping.
    • Maintain and inventory vendor supplied COTS hardware to support production builds.
    • Wood container breakdown and disposal to ensure working areas remain clean and uncluttered.
    • Cardboard breakdown and recycling to ensure working areas remain clean and uncluttered.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts (15% of time spent)
    • Maintain accurate inventory in the stockroom.
    • Maintain an accurate and clean stockroom area; ensuring that parts removed are requisitioned appropriately.
    • Perform cycle counting of inventory to maintain consistent material counts.
    • Prepare vendor/supplier kits.
    • Maintain lot traceability with stored materials.
    • Maintain part number and revision level traceability with stored materials.
    • Adjust stock locations to accommodate materials as necessary.

Qualifications

 

Required Skills/Education

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency is required.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS office.
  • 2 years of shipping/receiving experience.
  • 2 years of inventory systems experience.
  • Experience with companywide ERP system.
  • 2 years’ experience in a warehouse environment using material handling equipment.
  • Experience reading and understanding packing instructions.
  • Experience processing computer transactions related to inventory processing and shipping transactions.
  • Remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend packing and other instructions in English.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to support inventory cycle counts.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to multitask and perform work under tight time constraints.
  • Basic math skills to count incoming materials and kit material to outside contract manufactures.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with operating forklift and scissor lift.
  • Experience with internet browser-based programs such as UPS World Ship, Fedex.com, ACE is helpful.
  • Forklift certified.
  • Ability to support inventory cycle counts.
  • Use of an MRP/ERP computer system, SAP experience is preferred.
  • Attention to detail to prepare shipping documents and complete shortage reports.
  • Packing skills to prepare parts and materials for shipping to customers or outside contract manufactures.

Physical requirements

  • Significant amounts of time are spent lifting up to 60 pounds.
  • Significant amounts of time are spent walking and standing.
  • Significant amounts of time are spent communicating (talking/listening).
  • Average amounts of work are spent using a computer.

Travel

  • Not required for this positon.
