Position Overview

The Manager, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) plays a crucial role in aligning the demand, operations, and supporting functions to ensure that the organization can meet its demand while maintaining optimal operational efficiency. Is responsible for developing, monitoring, and adjusting demand forecasts to ensure the efficient operation of the S&OP process while optimizing resource utilization and cost efficiency. The role involves close collaboration with commercial, manufacturing, finance, and supply chain teams to create a consensus-based demand plan that supports the company’s strategic goals. As the Manager, S&OP, you will help to align strategic and tactical decisions to balance demand and supply, coordinate volume and mix with capacity and capability, and harmonize financial and operational plans with strategic goals to achieve key business priorities. The Site Production Planning Team reports directly to this position.

Job Description

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop and maintain demand planning processes, working with Commercial and Operations Teams to appropriately aggregate, understand, analyze and optimize facility capacity and utilization.  Facilitate monthly S&OP meetings, ensuring that key stakeholders are aligned on demand, supply, and financial plans. 
  • Directs, oversees, and manages the FDBC Production Planning Team in the development and maintenance of supply planning activities (scheduling, scenario planning, forecasting, capacity, and reporting) for FDBC. 
  • Analyze market trends and sales data to predict future demand and prepare scalable production plans.  Present demand plans and assumptions during S&OP meetings, highlighting risks, opportunities, and scenarios to optimize decision-making. 
  • Work closely with supply chain and operations teams to ensure supply plans align with demand forecasts, balancing priorities accordingly.  Lead preparation, execution, and continuous improvement of monthly S&OP cycle to include the assessment and utilization of tools designed to clearly communicate capacity and demand utilization for planning purposes. 
  • Ensure that decisions on balancing demand and supply are taken with all relevant stakeholders as part of the S&OP process to best support the given business and financial performance goals.  Responsible for weekly and monthly demand planning as well as multi-year planning, as necessary. May work closely with Sales and / or customers to provide the most accurate demand signal. 
  • Accountable for the ongoing analysis of demand while efficiently and accurately documenting and recording data and taking logical decisions.  Develop, build, and automate business reporting for day-to-day use, strategic analyses, and internal business reviews. 
  • Initiate process improvements around S&OP and demand planning to achieve higher forecast accuracy, on time delivery as well as better customer satisfaction.  Challenge the status quo and identify business risks.  Monitor KPIs and provide insights to senior management. 
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration for operational excellence.  Continuously seek to improve forecasting methods, tools, and processes.  Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing the S&OP process, improving demand planning accuracy, or optimizing inventory levels.  Communicate demand changes, risks, and opportunities to relevant stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.  Responsible for all tasks that will be assigned by Head of Program Management related to the department responsibilities.   
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all demand-related inquiries and issues.  Process improvement initiatives: ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and implementation of tools supporting the S&OP process. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS (Education & Professional Experience): 

 

  • Master’s Degree preferably in Business, Engineering, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field and 7+ years working as a Master Scheduler, Supply Chain Manager or S&OP Planner in a similar CDMO or biotechnology/pharmaceutical or CDMO environment. 
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Business, Engineering, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field and 9+ years working as a Master Scheduler, Supply Chain Manager or S&OP Planner in a similar CDMO or biotechnology/pharmaceutical or CDMO environment. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: 

  • This position primarily operates in an office setting. The work environment is typical of a professional office role, with most time spent sitting at a desk, using a computer, and attending meetings.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

 

  • $140,000 to $170,000, depending on experience
