Position Overview

The Supervisor, Materials is responsible for leading the Materials team and operations within the Warehouse in to ensure compliant and reliable material receipt, management, distribution, and shipments. This position also works closely with Raw Material Sampling and Weigh & Dispense to optimize productivity and operational efficiency. The Warehouse team consists of multiple shifts in which this manager leads and oversees to support the demands of the production schedule.

Job Description

Major Accountabilities 

 

• Leads and develops direct reports for Warehouse team while overseeing, organizing, and coordinating daily activities and tasks between Warehouse, Raw Material Sampling, Weigh & Dispense, and Manufacturing
• Oversees and coordinates Warehouse activities and collaborates cross functionally, including:

  • Evaluates production schedule to align daily materials management tasks
  • Ensures materials are transported, received, and sample properly
  • Coordinates sampling schedule and oversee sampling events including 3rd party warehouse
  • Ensures all cGMP operations are being followed and meeting all Quality requirements including product is shipped according to SOP and is aligned with Quality and cGMP standards
  • Oversees SAP transaction to maintain inventory control
  • Oversee and coordinate with 3rd party warehouses to achieve Operations’ objectives related to Materials Management.
  • Manages Warehouse team training and curricula
  • Change controls, deviation investigations, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
  • Provides necessary responses to alert or action limits for area equipment and monitoring
  • Continuous improvement, drives escalation and mitigates issues
  • Works closely with various departments throughout the site to meet needs of production schedule
  • Partners in routine practices and team projects relating to TPM, 5S, Lean Six Sigma, Change Control, Change Over, Safety, Quality, etc.
  • Develops and implements strategies to establish and maintain highly accurate inventory records through optimized cycle counting processes
  • Manages shelf life and lot controls in addition to overseeing the disposal of expired, rejected and damage material
  • Ensures a safe work environment for employees by adhering to all safety policies and preventing injuries
  • Monitors and evaluates to assure proper labeling, handling, and storage of all chemicals used in the area; assure proper labeling and accumulation of hazardous waste in satellite areas; adhere to all safety requirements and follow safe procedures, immediately notifying management or Safety when unsafe conditions or potential hazards are found; attend all required safety and health training, including handling hazardous waste, when necessary
  • Coaches and guides direct reports in the Warehouse to foster professional development
  • Monitors and conducts training, communication training deficiencies
  • Administers company policies such as time off, shift work, and inclement weather that directly impact employees
  • Completes required administrative tasks (e.g., timecard approvals, time off approvals, expense reports etc.)
  • Participates in the recruitment process and retention strategies to attract and retain talent, as needed
  • Addresses performance gaps, employee questions and concerns, and partners with HR as needed for resolution
  • Performs other duties, as assigned Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
  • Handles occasional complex situations when delegated by the Materials Service Manager
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 8+ years of related experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry and progressive experience as QA material supervisor, logistics coordinator, and/or senior material coordinator OR
  • Associate’s degree with 6+ years of related experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry and progressive experience as QA material supervisor, logistics coordinator, and/or senior material coordinator OR

Preferred Education and Experience Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of related experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry and progressive experience as QA material supervisor, logistics coordinator, and/or senior material coordinator
    • 2-3 years of people management experience
    • Experience in Inventory Management systems
    • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in business, engineering or logistics with a minimum of 4 years of related experience
    • Experience in ERP systems (i.e. SAP)
  • Preferred Training or Certification Requirements
     DOT/IATA
    •Forklift Certification
