The Manager, Supply Chain Planning is responsible for the operations of current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Supply Chain purchasing, and planning. This role oversees the materials planning process and direct purchasing while liaising with both internal and external stakeholders on the status of material readiness. This role collaborates with various departments’ activities to align with the company's strategic goals, while ensuring efficient resource allocation and high customer satisfaction through management of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system using Material Requirements Planning (MRP). This role is responsible for developing the planning team and orchestrating associated tasks to start up while transitioning into commercial operations. The Manager, Supply Chain Planning is expected to collaborate closely with all stakeholders to implement master data for both material and production planning in the SAP ERP system.

We are growing our locations and are investing more than $2 billion into establishing a new large-scale manufacturing site for biopharmaceuticals in the United States to accelerate the growth of our Bio CDMO (Contract and Development Manufacturing Organization) business. This will be the largest end-to-end cell culture CDMO provider in North America.
The new site will offer end-to-end solutions to our customers looking to manufacture biopharmaceuticals in the US. In addition to drug substance manufacture, it will also provide automated fill-finish and assembly, packaging, and labeling services. The new state-of-the-art facility is located in Holly Springs, North Carolina, United States.
What You’ll Do
• Manages and leads team activities for the material purchasing and production planning team including responsibilities for inventory, suppliers, execution of material MRP planning, and managing production schedule
• Coordinates with suppliers to secure timely delivery of materials and implementing process improvements to reduce costs and mitigate risks
• Oversees the end-to-end process in Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing (SAP) for creating Bills of Material (BoMs), forecasting demand, and converting plan orders into process orders, ensuring efficient production workflow and alignment with supply chain objectives
• Provides subject matter expert (SME) oversite to planning and supply processes and manages the Supply Chain teams on a long-term strategic planning
• Establishes controls to ensure the business is operating at the highest level of performance while minimizing supply chain risk
• Ensures the planning and purchasing teams work closely and effectively to support production plan demands
• Coordinates and integrates the flow of materials and information among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers, identifying opportunities for improving efficiency, effectiveness, and capabilities of the supply chain to avoid supply disruption and improve material availability
• Leads core planning meetings with all production teams to drive the production schedule to achieve business and commercial demand requirements driven from the Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP) process
• Monitors overall inventory management and develops necessary actions to reduce slow moving and obsolete inventory and monitors review/analyzes supply and demand changes and trends for supplier lead times
• Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards related to procurement
• Oversees the weekly reporting functions for material status and ensures correct allocation of materials to support the production schedule for all manufacturing areas
• Manages multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget while meeting quality standards
• Participates in existing and new project planning processes to assure timely acquisition of materials and production BoMs to support project runs for new clients and new processes introduced as required
• Works with Finance, Process Science, Production, Quality Control and Quality Assurance to provide support in production needs, batch readiness, batch closure and compliance
• Collects, analyzes, and reviews data for material readiness per project, material consumption on a per batch basis, and material utilization for all projects
• Proactively manages Supply Chain Planning led projects to improve efficiency and cost reduction of materials
• Fosters collaborative and efficient working relationships to maintain and strengthen partnerships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
• Leads the pre and post campaign review processes to challenge assumptions, work with internal teams to share learnings, and drive faster campaign readiness and changeover
• Drives people management practices, including goal setting, performance management, competency development, recognition, engagement, and well-being
• Administers company policies such as time off, shift work, and inclement weather that directly impact employees
• Completes required administrative tasks (e.g., timecard approvals, time off approvals, expense reports etc.)
• Coaches and guides direct reports to foster professional development
• Participates in the recruitment process and retention strategies to attract and retain talent, as needed
• Addresses performance gaps, employee questions and concerns, and partners with HR as needed for resolution
• Performs other duties, as assigned
Basic Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field with 7+ years of related experience OR
• Associate’s degree with 9+ years of related experience; OR
• High school diploma with 11+ years of related experience
• 2-5 years of people management experience
• ERP system experience
Preferred Requirements
• Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field with 5+ years of related experience
• SAP ERP experience
• APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
• Six Sigma training
