Position Overview

We are hiring a Research Scientist. The Research Scientist will be responsible for conducting research and development leading to the development of new products and process optimization of the selected existing product to increase the yield in manufacturing. The Research Scientist will also conduct protein purification at manufacturing scale under the direction of a supervisor.

Job Description

Responsibilities 

  • Lead and drive protein purification process development activities (existing product and new product), with a focus on optimizing yield, purity, and scalability.
  • Design and implement robust purification strategies utilizing a range of chromatographic techniques
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of downstream processing to ensure seamless transition from lab-scale to production-scale operations
  • Supervise and conduct experimental work related to new product development.
  • Oversee and mentor Associate scientists, providing guidance on experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting
  • Perform protein manufacturing following the purification batch record
  • Draft SOPs, batch record templates and associated documentation
  • Conduct thorough protein characterization and analysis, assist in trouble shooting equipment and experimental problem
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including quality control and quality assurance to meet project milestones and goals.
  • Contribute to development of long-range plans for R&D.
  • Learn, maintain and advance expertise in areas relevant to company’s products and strategic goals.
  • Present data to the department and project teams 

 

Required Skills/Education 

  • Bachelors in a Biological/Chemical Science plus 6+ years, Masters with 4+ years, or PhD with 1+ years in a Biological/Chemical Science, plus relevant work experience with proteins.
  • Relevant work experience with proteins and purification techniques are required.
  • Expertise in protein purification techniques, including chromatography (e.g., affinity, ion-exchange, size exclusion), Depth-filtration, TFF and protein analysis methods.
  • Broad experience with analytical protein characterization methods, including HPLC, SDS-PAGE, IEF, Nano UV-Vis, Western-blot, MS/MS and TOF mass spec
  • Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
