Overview

The Intern (EHS) interfaces with industry leading professionals from both Fujifilm and our global engineering partners to provide direct support in the development and execution of safety initiatives across construction (29CRF1926), and start-up and operations (29CFR1910). Specific focus areas include use of predictive leading indicators to minimize risk of injury, risk identification and mitigation, as well as helping with all things EHS related in the startup of a brand new facility.

 

Start Date: This internship is set to begin in May 2025 for an 11-week duration ending in August 2025.

 

Relocation: Please note this Internship Opportunity is designed to be 100% Onsite, 40 hours/week and a relocation/housing stipend is not provided.

We are growing our locations and are investing more than $2 billion into establishing a new large-scale manufacturing site for biopharmaceuticals in the United States to accelerate the growth of our Bio CDMO (Contract and Development Manufacturing Organization) business. This will be the largest end-to-end cell culture CDMO provider in North America.

 

The new site will offer end-to-end solutions to our customers looking to manufacture biopharmaceuticals in the US. In addition to drug substance manufacture, it will also provide automated fill-finish and assembly, packaging, and labeling services. The new state-of-the-art facility is located in Holly Springs, North Carolina, United States.

 

Job Description

What You’ll Do

 

Under the direct supervision, support and guidance of the manager:


• Collaborates with manager and experienced EHS professionals on identified project(s). Creates and delivers presentation on identified project to Site Leadership Team at the conclusion of internship
• Conducts field mock-OSHA inspections and facilitate corrective action closure, identify methods for CAPA measurement and strength assessments
• Assists in site-wide risk assessments and conducts research for best control measures for any identified risk
• Collaborate with the corporate ergonomic specialist partners to perform ergonomic evaluations and identify/implement solutions
• Assists in Industrial Hygiene sampling needs-assessments
• Assists in the rollout of a safety committee
• Utilizes existing leading indicator data to predict and control hazards
• Assists in the implementation of an EHS software
• Identifies needs for Continuous improvement, by gathering feedback from users and implement improvement ideas for assigned projects
• Performs other duties, as assigned

 

Basic Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an Associate's Degree program with a Life Sciences focus OR
• Rising Junior or above and enrolled in an Engineering or Scientific Undergraduate or Master’s degree Program
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment in an active construction site

 

Preferred Requirements

 

• Prior experience in Pharma/Biotech/Chemical Industry
• Prior hands-on technical experience (in a laboratory or manufacturing environment)

 

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to discern audible cues
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time - up to 60 minutes
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time - up to 240 minutes
  • Ability to conduct activities using repetitive motions that include writs, hands and/or fingers
  • Ability to conduct work that includes moving objects up to 10 pounds
