Summary:

 

Fujifilm Sonosite is seeking a Human Factors Engineering Intern to work on a collaborative team to facilitate the definition, development, and evaluation of our ultrasound product portfolio (systems, transducers, accessories, etc.). The position will contribute to many human factor’s initiatives within the organization during the summer of 2025. Moreover, this position will collaborate across disciplines and with external vendors to define, develop and evaluate superior user experiences that result from careful attention to the design of user interfaces based on human factors principles and a human-centered design process. We are looking for a Human Factors Intern that is passionate about delivering great experiences to our users. You will learn and apply Human Factors principles and methods for user research, requirements definition, and evaluation during all phases of the product development process. This is an individual contributor role in which you will work on cross-functional teams and be responsible for the human factor’s deliverables on several concurrent projects. Join a team of creative, user-focused enthusiasts from a variety of disciplines and help us expand the use of life-saving visualization tools around the world.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Experience with all aspects of human factors practice including: developing research plans and test protocols, conducting usability research and documentation.
  • Assist in supporting disciplines across the organization, including business and user needs development, usability and application specification definition, user interface design, usability testing, and use error analysis.
  • Apply human factors methodologies to determine end-user behaviors and preferences to develop usage models.
  • Participate in developing design control procedures for application to legacy products and new product development.
  • Assist in the performance of formative and summative usability studies for direct end-user feedback into to product development.
  • Update and maintain usability engineering files for compliance with IEC 62366 and quality management system procedures.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Pursuing an Advanced degree (at least MS/MA) in Human Factors Psychology/Engineering, Usability Engineering, Cognitive/Experimental Psychology, or an adjacent engineering field of study with a concentration in human factors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workloads
  • Ability to be diplomatically assertive
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds with or without accommodations

Hourly internship rate: $20.00
