The Accountant I will provide support in the accounting department through processing and reconciling a wide variety of accounting documents. Work is performed by applying knowledge of accounting terminology and using spreadsheets and/or automated accounting systems.

 

Reports to                Head of Finance

Work Location         College Station, TX 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Process all phases of Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable.
  • Ensure proper GL coding.
  • Assist with the processing and reconciling of accounting documents including, but not limited to, invoices, vendor statements, billing statements, and journal entries.
  • Review and code financial information for accuracy.
  • Track expenses, customer accounts, and process expense reports.
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments and generate periodic billing statements and customer invoices.
  • Post transactions and payments received to journals, ledgers, and other records.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and revenue transactions.
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
  • Research and resolve invoice and/or billing discrepancies and issues.
  • Prepare memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents as needed.
  • Assist with month end closing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 1+ year of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience; OR
  • High School diploma or GED and 3+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Prior experience with SAP preferred.
  • Prior experience in Federal/State contract administration preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments with little supervision.
  • Ability to work collectively with administrative team members.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
