Overview

The VP, Strategy & Execution will use strong leadership and problem-solving skills to drive the strategic planning and advancement of operational capabilities for the NC Region. This pivotal role is responsible for developing a comprehensive operating system.  In this capacity, you will guide both a team of 3-5 direct reports as well as 10+ indirect reports involved in continuous improvement, project management, and communications, inspiring a collaborative and high-performance culture. The VP, Strategy & Execution plays a key role in ensuring site objectives across both North Carolina sites and are aligned to deliver the broader Company ambition.  You will need to be based onsite daily.

Reporting directly to the SVP, NC Region and Holly Springs, NC Site Head, the VP, Strategy & Execution is a cornerstone in fostering collaboration and communication around strategic focus areas such as delivery, change management, and growth. Your impact will be felt across the organization, driving alignment and consensus at all levels.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Strategic Development: Lead the creation and refinement of the NC Region’s strategy, ensuring it aligns with FDB’s broader goals.   Collaborate with the communication lead to develop a strategic plan that engages the entire organization, from top management to the front lines.
  • Site and Regional Communications:  Lead the team responsible for internal site communications at our North Carolina sites in RTP, NC and Holly Springs, NC, external engagement in the local area to drive brand recognition and community involvement and employee events.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish and continuously enhance the site operating model, ensuring effective governance, performance management, and streamlined processes. Empower your team to identify and implement improvements that boost efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate Alignment: Work closely with the site leadership of our two North Carolina manufacturing facilities to set strategic priorities, goals, and initiatives. Hold direct accountability for driving efforts at our Holly Springs location and ensure cohesive decision-making that drives the organization forward.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement Continuous Improvement methodologies to create a robust site tier process, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • People Management: Lead and develop your team by providing mentorship, setting clear expectations, and creating an environment that encourages growth and engagement. Manage external partnerships to ensure initiatives align with strategic objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Facilitation: Facilitate Site Leadership Team meetings and promote collaboration across departments, ensuring cohesive and synchronized efforts.
  • Corporate Representation: Represent the NC region in corporate initiatives, ensuring local strategies align with global objectives.
  • Transformation Leadership: Spearhead site transformation efforts, prioritizing the implementation of new capabilities that support strategic growth and meet industry and client needs.
  • Project Management: Develop a unified approach to project management, encompassing assessment, budgeting, resourcing, business case development, and implementation. Partner with key stakeholders to ensure projects align with site master plans and financial strategies.
  • Special Projects and Initiatives: Lead special projects as assigned, contributing to the overall strategic goals of the organization.

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strategic Vision: Ability to see the big picture and develop actionable plans that achieve long-term objectives.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality outcomes. Advanced proficiency in MS Office, Tableau, and other data visualization tools.
  • Leadership and Development: Proven track record in leading and nurturing teams, effectively managing both direct and matrixed (dotted-line) relationships. Adept at influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • Project Management Expertise: Proven ability in project management and process improvements within the biopharmaceutical or cell therapy sectors, driving impactful change.
  • Experience in Change Management: Expertise in transformation, Agile implementation, Change Management, and Lean Six Sigma.
  • Document Management: Advanced knowledge of document management and lifecycle, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities while driving projects to successful completion.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in a GMP regulated environment, Continuous Improvement, Project Management and Special Projects.
  • 15+ years of experience in Leadership
  • 10 or more years of technical and regulatory experience and understanding within a biotech or pharmaceutical background. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment that will require management of multiple competing priorities while driving all projects forward and meeting project deliverables.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, team building, program management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation skills and proven ability to develop, communicate, and execute strategies with diverse sets of stakeholders
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, , and written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
