The role of an Ultrasound Engineer Intern is multifaceted and involves working on various aspects of ultrasound technology development and integration. Here's a breakdown of the key responsibilities and opportunities for the Ultrasound Engineer Intern:

  • Signal Path Development: The intern will participate the development and integration of the signal path for imaging modes and features. This involves understanding and working with the hardware and software components that process ultrasound signals to produce images.
  • Algorithm Design: The intern may have the opportunity to participate in algorithm design. This could include developing and optimizing algorithms used for image processing and enhancement in ultrasound imaging.
  • Test Development and Execution: The intern will be involved in creating test plans and conducting tests to ensure the quality and functionality of the ultrasound platforms.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaboration is a key aspect of this role. The intern will work closely with various engineering disciplines, including systems, hardware, software, transducer, mechanical, clinical, and manufacturing teams. Essential Job Functions:

  • Participate in the development and integration of the ultrasound signal path algorithms and features.
  • Develop the integration test plans and strategies for the new imaging features.
  • Develop and update software tools specifically designed for feature integration and data analysis to support testing and optimization.
  • Develop, execute and document integration tests for the new transducer and imaging feature integration to verify their functionality and performance.
  • Participate in the ultrasound feasibility studies and research projects: exploring new technologies, techniques, or applications for ultrasound imaging.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Currently pursing BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics or Computer Science
  • Experiences in ultrasound physics, signal and image processing
  • Proficient in Matlab, Python or C++ programming languages
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Hourly internship rate: $20.00
