We are growing our locations and are investing more than $2 billion into establishing a new large-scale manufacturing site for biopharmaceuticals in the United States to accelerate the growth of our Bio CDMO (Contract and Development Manufacturing Organization) business. This will be the largest end-to-end cell culture CDMO provider in North America.

The new site will offer end-to-end solutions to our customers looking to manufacture biopharmaceuticals in the US. In addition to drug substance manufacture, it will also provide automated fill-finish and assembly, packaging, and labeling services. The new state-of-the-art facility is located in Holly Springs, North Carolina, United States.

About This Role

 

The Instrumentation & Controls Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and operational reliability of the instrumentation and controls that support facility wide equipment, and facility systems through effective Preventive and Corrective Maintenance and Calibration practices and knowhow. While in project phase, the schedule will be M-F during normal business hours.  Upon transitioning to operations, this position will transition to the appropriate shift that will be defined prior to the transition. What You’ll Do

  • Perform general Instrument and Controls Troubleshooting / Repairs / Preventive and Corrective Maintenance to all Plant Equipment / Systems, Process Measurement and Control, Utility, Laboratory, and Bench-top Instrumentation.​
  • ​Perform calibrations as directed
  • Perform electronic maintenance of pressure, temperature, flow, weight, pH, DO, and other critical process parameter measuring devices on a wide variety of process and utility equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and pneumatic control circuits
  • Use equipment manuals and drawings to troubleshoot and repairs instrumentation and control errors or issues
  • Document all performed work on work orders, calibration data sheets, and other forms, as required
  • Work directly with Manufacturing, Validation, Quality Assurance, Metrology, Maintenance, Facilities, and Quality Control in order to support their individual department needs
  • ​Follow standard procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with safety and cGMP quality standards.​
  • Perform loop checks for new instrumentation
  • Perform initial/routine calibrations as directed
  • ​Assist/perform LOTO as required to complete I&C/Metrology activities
  • ​Support plant operations during off-hours as needed
  • ​Adhere to all safety requirements and follow safe work practices, immediately notifying management or Safety when unsafe conditions or potential hazards are found
  • ​Attend all required and safety and health training
  • Perform spare parts assessment as required
  • Provide general rebuild of control valves, actuators, and positioners, and switching devices

You have the ability to follow standard procedures and protocols. You are able to work in a large team environment and build cooperative, collaborative relationships with stakeholders while maintaining a positive, professional and customer-oriented attitude. You have good communication and problem-solving skills.

 

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • A valid US passport
  • Intermediate understanding of I&C/Metrology principles
  • Intermediate understanding of PLC systems for process control troubleshooting and repairs of automated systems to support calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs of instrumentation and controls systems​​
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs as required to support day to day activities
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) such as ProCalV5, Blue Mountain, Maximo, Infor EAM, etc.

Preferred Skills

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 4 years of I&C experience or similar field
  • Experience with GMP requirements
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Effective communication, both written and oral
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Must be able to work shifts and on-call, as needed
  • Associates degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as ProCalV5, Blue Mountain, Maximo, Infor EAM, etc.

  • This position will be on-call for maintenance issues in rotation with other technicians.
  • This position will require coverage of different shifts, weekends, and holidays.
