Job Description

Pay range for position: $25 - 40 per hour, commensurate with experience.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Technician performs functions associated with quality control and quality assurance operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks and carrying out rework and quality assurance procedures related to production or operations. Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate data to assist in assessing and documenting results of quality assurance and control processes. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures for quality assurance and control. Works with engineers in conducting experiments, and to ensure the documented manufacturing procedures are implemented, maintained and well monitored. To achieve that goal, it may need to involve in some failure analysis, quality improvement projects and statistical data analysis work.

 

 

· SKILL: As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in creative and effective ways.

· JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.

· SUPERVISION: Determine methods and procedures on new assignments. May be informal team leader.

· EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Conduct and report results of internal audits on quality and manufacturing related procedures.

· Audit quality of final wafers or printhead assemblies, hold shipment if failed spec or quality standard.

· Draft or revise instruction documents and assist with validating testing methods as well as other duties to assure or improve product quality.

· Compose, revise, and manage quality related documents.

· Follow up Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to make sure it was implemented and verifies the effectiveness.

· Assist in managing Return Materials Authorization (RMA) from customers, figure out the root cause, follow up the corrective actions, and determine the response to customer.

· Participates in quality improvement projects or yield task force projects.

· Lead activities, including facilitating meetings or required discussions, to a) evaluate and verify the validity of final wafer and assembly inspection criteria; b) improve inspection & testing method.

· Conduct in depth inspection to assist in root cause determination and provide proposal for resolution.

· Conduct in depth inspection to assist in quality control of final products before shipment to customers both internal and external

· Manage quality related data and records.

· Trains other employees on quality assurance procedures.

REQUIRED:

· Three or more years working experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or data analysis job. ISO9001 internal audit experience will be a plus.

· Familiar with one or more industry quality standard system, such as ISO9001, ISO14001, or TS16949.

· Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point). · Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

· Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to report, present and communicate results of work.

· Ability to learn and grow to enable ownership of assignment in unfamiliar areas with minimal supervision.

· Able to conduct effective meetings.

· Intermediate knowledge of quality assurance and control tools such as Gage R&R, Cp, CpK, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA).

DESIRED:

· Associates degree or equivalent in Engineering, Quality Management, Statistics or Database.

· Hands-on knowledge on MEMS, semiconductor, electrical packaging and/or complicated backend assembly.

· Familiar with statistic software or tools such as MiniTab.

· Understanding of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).

· Six Sigma knowledge and certification will be a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Standing or walking over two-thirds of the time. Perform manual processing of wafers using chemicals to clean and etch wafers requiring frequent use of arm and wrist movements. May be required to use microscopes for long periods of time to perform wafer and die level inspections.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Works in wafer fabrication and clean room environment, requiring clean room gowning (smock, hood, gloves, booties, etc.) Exposure to moderate noise levels. Exposure to stored energy hazards (electricity, compressed gases, etc.) May be required to use microscopes for extended periods of time. Exposure to chemicals needed for processing wafers- such as alcohol, acetone, acids, solvents and photo resist. Works in a facility that houses hazardous chemicals.

OTHER: Other duties as may be assigned. Each employee’s primary objective is to assure that the quality, delivery and cost controls within his/her control meet or exceed all of our internal and external customers’ requirements. Each employee is required to abide by the Employee Handbook and the rules and regulations explained and provided at each orientation and training session. Special attention must be given to the safety aspects of these documents.
