    Job Summary:

    The Principal Software Engineer will develop Graphical User Interface software for SonoSite’s flagship ultrasound products.  This is a hands-on software development position with the opportunity to also lead and support small project teams.  Requires competence in all aspects of the product level software development life cycle including requirements, analysis, design, implementation, and testing.  Requires working closely with the broader SonoSite software engineering team and other internal engineering teams, as well as global Fujifilm software development teams.  Qualified candidates will have previous experience with Microsoft Windows software development and must possess a thorough understanding of C++, C#, WPF, XAML, DirectX, HTML, and XML.   Candidates must also have previous experience developing embedded software running on a Microsoft OS (preferably Windows 10).  Candidates must be very team oriented and eager to work in a fast paced environment.

     

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and track project team development activities
    • Provide technical development and leadership to a project team
    • Develop/Enhance User Interface software for highly sophisticated medical ultrasound equipment.
    • Collaborate with human factors engineers to translate Graphical User Interface concepts into elegant, efficient, and object oriented software architectures.
    • Author software requirements specifications.
    • Design and document innovative software modules that meet specified requirements and support efficient and comprehensive unit testing.
    • Conduct reviews of specifications and designs.  Incorporate feedback as needed to improve performance, reliability, robustness, etc.
    • Implement software designs per documented coding standards and in compliance with medical industry regulatory body requirements.
    • Build, debug, and verify software designs meet defined specifications.
    • Support integration of software modules with Hardware and System teams.
    • Participate in reviews of team member’s designs and provide feedback that helps improve overall system quality and performance.
    • Perform Software Risk Analysis activities to ensure that software design mitigates potential safety issues.

     

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • Accredited Engineering Degree – BSCS or related degree or equivalent experience
    • 10+ years experience with software development for embedded systems
    • 7+ years programming experience with C++ and C#
    • 3+ years experience in Windows presentation technologies (e.g. Microsoft Blend)
    • 3+ years experience with Microsoft WPF development
    • Advanced skills with Microsoft XAML, Windows CLI, DirectX, SQL, and XML
    • Demonstrated expertise with object oriented design patterns
    • Demonstrated proficiency with requirements analysis and documentation
    • Significant experience with software test methodologies
    • Significant experience with embedded operating systems (Windows 10 preferred) and Microsoft software development tools (Visual Studio).
    • Significant experience with software source control tools (e.g. Git), and documentation tools (e.g. MS Office and Visio)
    • Significant experience with ISO, FDA, or other regulated product development environments strongly desired

     

    Skills and Abilities:

     

     

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to lift 25lbs with or without accommodations
