    Job Summary:

     

    Quality, Value, Sustaining (QVS) Engineering is a growing team whose mission is to improve the quality of Fujifilm SonoSite products through their life-cycle by proactively handling component and module obsolescence while strategically reducing COGS (Cost of Goods Sold). The QVS senior SW engineer will develop new SW, modify existing code bases as well as utilize their EE experience to select new or replacement components on existing products, to correct quality issues, and to reduce cost of goods sold. The QVS senior SW engineer collaborates closely with other members of the QVS team as well as with other functional teams and with project managers to execute projects on schedule. This position requires EE experience and knowledge of Unix operating systems, Windows operating systems.

     

    Essential Job Functions:

     

    • Use EE/SW skills to resolve product quality issues identified by Operations, Service and Customers. Acquire detailed product knowledge by examining schematics, specifications, and consulting other engineers who have knowledge of the products.
    • Develop code and/or modify existing code base to use alternate components.
    • Conduct reviews of specifications and designs.  Incorporate feedback as needed to improve performance, reliability, robustness, etc.
    • Build, debug, and verify that software designs meet defined specifications.
    • Support integration of software modules with Hardware and System teams.
    • Select and qualify electronic components to handle obsolescence. Work with component engineers and planners to ensure that the production line is not impacted by obsolescence issues.
    • Provide technical development and SW/EE  expertise to a project team
    • Participate in reviews of team member’s designs and provide feedback that helps improve overall system quality and performance.
    • Responsible for the quality of work, reliability, schedule, and cost
    • Follow established processes/procedures to maintain high quality output of all projects undertaken
    • Responsible and accountable for carrying out the requirements of the company's quality system

     

    Knowledge and Experience:

     

    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or related degree (Master degree preferred) from an ABET accredited institution
    • 9+ years’ combined experience in circuit and SW development
    • 5+ years programming experience with C++  (C# experience also desired)
    • 5+ years’ experience in developing or modifying schematics and specifications to make changes for quality, cost, or obsolescence purposes.
    • 5+years’ experience with electronic troubleshooting equipment including advanced oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers for high speed circuits that interface with large BGAs.
    • Demonstrated expertise with object oriented design
    • Significant experience with embedded operating systems including VxWorks, Windows CE and Microsoft software development tools (Visual Studio).
    • Experience writing and debugging test scripts – Ruby preferred, other languages acceptable
    • Experience debugging standard buses including PCI Express, USB, I2C …, high speed transceivers, advanced memory interfaces (e.g. DDR3) is desired
    • Significant experience with ISO, FDA, or other regulated product development environments strongly desired

     

    Skills and Abilities:

     

    • Must be able to multi-task effectively
    • Must be able to follow corporate and regulatory standards
    • Must have Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Must have EE experience
    • Ability to use lab equipment for debugging purposes is highly desirable
