    We are recruiting for a Quality Control Analyst I.  This position performs laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid and liquid materials for such purposes as quality control and process control by performing the following duties: Samples and analyzes raw materials used as ingredients in photogenic/graphic arts chemical products for qualities such as purity, pH, density, solution appearance, melting point, acidity, alkalinity and presence/content of elements such as chloride, iron, metals or impurities.  Performs functional photographic testing on raw materials and manufactured product; cuts and exposes photographic film and paper.  Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as pH meter, density meter, balances and scales, spectrophotometer, melt point apparatus, autotitrator, densitometer, colorimeter, turbidimeter, centrifuge, viscometer, particle size analyzer, HPLC, refractometer, IR spectrometer, conductivity meter, microscope and Leedal photo testing equipment.  Analyzes samples of in-process manufactured product to verify conformity to specifications using wet analytical and instrumental procedures.  Cleans, calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment and glassware.  Prepares and analyzes/standardizes chemical solutions and reagents according to standard formulas.  Makes chemical or raw material adjustments to in-process product batches to correct or establish formulation required to meet specifications.  Provides manufacturing with proper weight or volume of raw materials required for manufacture of product.  Provides other departments with completed paperwork to communicate quality status of raw materials and manufactured product.  Records test results on standardized forms, maintains quality records and manuals.  Inputs SQC data, prepares graphs and charts.  Maintains QC sample retains, stores and disposes of samples.  Adheres to all company safety, ISO 9001, 14001 and 13485 policies and procedures.

    Education:
    Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Applied Science or Chemical Technology.

    Experience:
    1 to 2 years laboratory work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Qualifications:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, calibration procedures and procedure/analytical manuals.
    Ability to write reports and correspondence.
    Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and to communicate effectively with coworkers and other employees of organization.
    Ability to apply concepts of college algebra in performing calculations involved in analytical testing.
    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as concentration, grams per liter, pounds per gallon, percentages, PPM, average, mode and median.
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
    Ability to deal with problems involving quality of raw materials and manufactured in-process chemicals, bathes or product.
    Ability to utilize PC/Windows operating system and software such as Microsoft Excel and Word to prepare and view documents and reports.
    Ability to learn and perform certain functions in Fuji Hunt AS/400 system.
    Knowledge of photoscience and/or statistical methods a plus but not required.
    Occasional overtime work may be required.
