Job Title: Technician II, Coil Repair

 

Job purpose

 

This position is intended to conduct electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic repair of medical devices, primarily MRI receive coils. A successful candidate would be skilled at troubleshooting using bench testing equipment, hands-on detailed repair, and soldering, with a desire to work in a depot repair environment.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conducts electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic repair of medical devices, primarily MRI receive coils. May also include repair and maintenance of components that are serviced and utilized by HCUS, such as cold heads, printed circuit boards, and specialized test equipment.
  • Follows work instructions and generates QA documentation as required in an FDA regulated industry.
  • Follows the appropriate inventory management practices for the area.
  • Follows all safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Works with team members to quickly adjust priorities to address urgent service issues.
  • Comply with all applicable U.S. Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA) medical device regulatory requirements, applicable ISO 13485 standard requirements and all other applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

Qualifications

 

Experience:

  • Ability to operate test equipment troubleshoot based on readings.
  • Ability to attain soldering proficiency.
  • PC troubleshooting & PCB modification experience preferred.

Educational requirements:

  • 2-year electronics degree or equivalent offsetting experience in the service and maintenance of mechanical/electrical equipment.

Special skills or other job requirements:

  • Must have high aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing technical equipment, with high attention to detail and bias towards high quality work.
  • Must be highly self-motivated, well organized, and capable of multitasking.
  • Must be able to work overtime as assigned.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • PC literacy required.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. to shoulder level unassisted.
  • Ability to physically work in high magnetic fields of up to 3 Tesla, which could dangerously affect any implanted medical devices made of ferrous material, potentially causing serious injury and/or death.
  • Must follow all required safety rules and guidelines for the area, including wearing personal protective equipment.

Physical requirements

 

The position requires the ability to perform the following physical demands and/or have the listed capabilities:

  • Frequently required to sit; talk; or hear.
  • Frequently use fingers to type and do other fine motor tasks.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop; kneel; or crouch.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

Travel

  • Occasional (up to 10%) travel may be required based on business need.
