Overview

Engineer-II OT (Operations Technology) is a mid-level with a minimum of 6 years of experience position in the Operational Technology Engineering group of FDBU. This position will directly report to the Senior Manager of Process Automation.  

The Engineer-II OT is a full-time engineering position with daily tasks relating to industrial IT automation manufacturing systems to include network infrastructure, servers, and operating system support. The candidate will possess a background in scripting (VBS preferably or Batch Command File). The Engineer-II will also have a solid understanding of Windows operating system and Active Directory (workstation/Thin Clients and server if possible). The Engineer-II will need a good understanding of Active Directory and Account Management as well as VMware and Virtualization in server environments.

The candidate will have a high ability in customer service and a willingness to support plant personnel as well as support with GMP documentation. As such, this position requires knowledge of pharmaceutical cGMP processes but could be reconsidered if the applicant possesses a strong IT background in the relevant area.

This position will require participation in a weekly rotating, after-hour, IT automation support function.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Support manufacturing software and network connectivity issues as well as equipment PC/Thin client hardware.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing IT system operations and troubleshooting. The troubleshooting will include computers and terminal systems as well as Server system support.
  • Support the design, procurement, installation, and start-up of new IT systems in accordance with FDBU standards and cGMP regulatory requirements.
  • Support with Commercial software installs such as Cytiva’s Unicorn system, Emerson’s DeltaV, and others.
  • Use vSphere for deployment of VMs
  • Provide VMware ESXI update support
  • Cisco Switch Configuration
  • Account management (Active Directory)
  • Group Policy configuration (Active Directory)
  • OS installation and patching (WDS/MDT & WSUS)
  • Support with system backups
  • Support with drawing updates (Visio)
  • Printer server management
  • CAPA’s
  • Deviation and Change Control
  • SOP updates
  • Work Order implementation

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 3+ year experience in relevant process IT or 6+ years’ equivalent process IT work experience with Trade School or Associate.
  • M.S. Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 0+ years’ experience of relevant IT experience.
  • Proficient computer skills with experience in Virtualization and Active Directory.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude for problem-solving and data-driven decision making
  • Basic understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside the primary area of expertise (e.g. validation, process engineering, quality, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate within cross-functional teams and with management
  • Ability to organize and present technical and project management overviews to engineering staff, cross-functional departments, and management without assistance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team-based environment with employees at all levels
  • Maintains effective relationships across functional units gaining their trust and respect
  • Puts accomplishing the goals of the group ahead of accomplishing individual goals
  • Openly shares knowledge/information needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem

Physical Demands:

  • The position requires essential physical abilities, including but not limited to stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing.  The individual may need to exert physical effort such as lifting or moving light objects up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and/or a negligible amount constantly.
  • The Process Engineering department provides 24-hour support for manufacturing.  An individual in this position will be required to support a rotating on-call responsibility as a regular part of the job.

 

Visual Acuity:

  • The individual in this position should have the visual acuity required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving minor defects, small parts, and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.  Additionally, this individual must have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.

 

Environmental Conditions:

  • The individual in this position works in both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.

 

FDBU works with technical data, technology and materials that are subject to U.S. export laws and regulations. This position will require access to technical data, technology and source code that is controlled under U.S. export laws and regulations, including but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations at 22 C.F.R.
