    Job Summary:


    The Senior Software Engineer- Platform, designs and implements embedded and networking software for SonoSite’s flagship ultrasound products. This is a technical leadership position where you will have the opportunity to design software architectures and drive detailed development activities.  Duties also include supporting legacy software platforms.


    Apply your knowledge of embedded software and hardware to design, develop, and test device drivers under Windows 10 and Windows CE for networking devices.  You will have the opportunity to perform all aspects of product level software development, including requirements, analysis, design, implementation, integration, and documentation.  Candidates must be very team oriented and eager to work in a fast paced environment.



    Essential Job Functions:


    • Analyze and prototype embedded designs including connected devices and interfaces.
    • Author software requirement specifications per product requirements.
    • Design, implement and document software modules that meet specified requirements and support efficient and comprehensive unit testing.
    • Conduct reviews of specifications and designs.  Incorporate feedback as needed to improve performance, reliability, robustness, etc.
    • Implement software designs per documented coding standards and in compliance with medical industry regulatory body requirements.
    • Build, debug, and verify software designs meet defined specifications.
    • Take part in integration of software modules with Hardware and System teams.
    • Participate in reviews of team member’s designs and provide feedback that helps improve overall system quality and performance.
    • Perform Software Risk Analysis activities to ensure that software design mitigates potential safety issues.


    Knowledge and Experience:


    • Accredited Engineering Degree - BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related degree.
    • 7+ years experience in custom embedded product development.
    • 5+ years experience with C/C++ is required.
    • Significant coding experience with Microsoft operating systems for embedded systems such as Windows 10 and Windows CE is strongly desired.
    • Understanding of 802.11xx/IP networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, ARP, etc.) preferred.
    • Understanding of common bus architectures is required (USB, PCIe, etc.).
    • Experience working with and creating device drivers preferred.
    • Experience with network security protocols (WPA/WPA2, EAP, TLS, FIPS-140, etc.) preferred.
    • Experience integrating Bluetooth USB-devices and chips is desired
    • Knowledge and exposure to hardware design and assembly language is desired.
    • ISO, FDA, IEC 62304, or other regulated industry training and experience is desired.
    • Self-motivated, able to work independently.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
