The Sr. Logistics Import-Export Specialist role is responsible for coordinating and executing activities to support inbound and outbound shipping for FDBU. This includes shipments of samples and product to support tech transfers, client programs, and commercial demand. This role provides guidance and support for both daily operations and projects as it relates to commercial operations and client needs. The specialist supports and collaborates with internal departments, such as Warehouse, Tech Transfer teams, Quality Control, Manufacturing, and Process Science, as needed, to build and maintain stakeholder relations.

The specialist is responsible for Trade Compliance at FDBU, including building and optimizing the process. This role corresponds and collaborates with external clients, government agencies, and state agencies for Trade Compliance responsibilities for import/export shipments.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Processing daily import forwarding and brokerage activity to ensure no delays in the supply chain and meeting the client’s expectations with excellent customer service.
  • Builds and optimizes processes for logistics, shipments, and trade compliance, including creating and/or updating standard operating procedures, as needed
  • Supports business needs for import and export policies, material classification, procedures, methods, audit readiness, and operating practices
  • Schedules, collaborates, and delivers in a fast-paced environment while balancing priorities to meet customer needs
  • Monitors and manages logistics carrier import/export performance and relations for all sample and product shipments in and out of FDBU GMP site
  • Works closely with internal stakeholders and external customers to build and maintain strong relationships within logistics, distribution, and Trade Compliance
  • Subject matter expert with shipment deviations and coordinating with stakeholders for impact assessments, risk mitigation actions, and resolutions
  • Accountable for Trade Compliance activities, not limited to classification of materials (Harmonized Tariff Schedule - HTS), Incoterm support, and working with agencies such as US Customs ensuring compliance adherence
  • Resolve issues for any shipment where FDBU is acting as the importer of record.
  • Perform monthly audits of imports and exports to ensure FDBU’s trade compliance and customs brokers’ compliance.
  • Assist Accounts Payable in determining the GL account for the invoices from our primary Customs Broker
    • Supports, drives, and implements Trade Compliance activities for FDBU, working closely with FDB Sr. Trade Compliance Manager at a global level to build and optimize a harmonize system across the network

 

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field with 5 years experience as logistics coordinator
  • Experience with Trade Compliance laws and regulations, specifically around Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and export control is preferred. 
  • One or more APICS certifications (CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, CTSC) is preferred

 

FDBU works with technical data, technology and materials that are subject to U.S. export laws and regulations. This position will require access to technical data, technology and source code that is controlled under U.S. export laws and regulations, including but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations at 22 C.F.R. Parts 120 – 130 and Export Administration Regulations in 15 C.F.R. Part 730 – 774, as may be amended. To conform to these laws and regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., protected individuals as defined by 8 USC 1324(b)(a)(3) (i.e., asylees and refugees) or otherwise eligible for an export authorization from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.
