As part of the Global Sourcing and Procurement (GSP) team at FDB, the Category Manager (CM) will play a vital role in identifying value added opportunities within certain categories of spend The CM will be the expert in their category understanding the spend profile, supplier base, market trends, and business needsThey will devise a strategy/plan for the category and execute on the strategy, working closely with key stakeholders within FDB.  The CM will also foster strong relationships with our key suppliers to ensure FDB is a priority client and receiving a high level of supplier performance. This role primarily covers the North American region which encompasses several FDB sites; however, the CM is part of a global team and will be involved with and lead global initiatives that support the GSP.    

 

Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement cost savings initiatives and projects at FDB US within responsible region (EU/US) across several categories of spend. 

  • Partner with Global and/or other Regional Category Managers to leverage FDB scale and ensure best solutions for FDB 

  • Engage and collaborate with customers to identify, gain buy-in, and drive successful cost savings and value added projects. 

  • Identify and deliver value to the company with our external supply partners, such as shorter lead times, better payment terms, innovative solutions, etc. 

  • Utilize sourcing and procurement tools and methodologies in daily business. 

  • Implement supplier performance management and metrics to improve supplier performance. 

  • Implement and support enforcement of FDB buying and contracting processes. 

  • Actively monitor and communicate category insights, trends and conduct market research. 

  • Establish, maintain and manage relationship with functional stake holders and procurement. 

  • Establish, maintain and manage relationship with supply partners. 

  • Jr. position will spend a portion of their time on requisition to PO process. 

Professional Skills & Requirements:  

Education:  

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree preferably in a Science or Math related field. Preferred 

  • Masters/MBA with focus on finance, science, and/or supply chain.  

  • Procurement or Supply Chain certification is a nice to have but not mandatory 

  • Ability to foster a team-oriented environment. 

  • Strong negotiator with ability to effectively utilize appropriate techniques. 

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment. 

  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment, particularly within a CDMO. 

  • Self-driven with ability to work independently without heavy oversight. 

  • Excellent communicator and presenter. 

  • Works effectively in team environment with ability to lead meetings and drive decisions. 

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills. 

  • Ability to effectively manage a wide range of suppliers. 

  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external supply partners. 

  • Continuous improvement mind-set not afraid to take action on improving.  

Experience:  

 

Jr. Level Position: 

  • 1 – 2 years purchasing, supply chain, finance role 
  • Experience working in SAP 
  • Experience working in a procurement platform such as Jaggaer, Ariba, etc. 
  • Experience in negotiating
  • Experience in a service oriented environment
  • Experience with Strategic Sourcing or Project Management tools and methodologies
  • Good presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint 

Sr. Level Position 

  • 3 – 5 years purchasing, supply chain, finance role 

  • Experience working in SAP 

  • Experience working in a procurement platform such as Jaggaer 

  • Strong negotiation experience 

  • Experience in a service oriented environment 

  • Strong knowledge and experience of Strategic sourcing, Category Management, and/or project management tools and methodologies 

  • Strong market intelligence experience 

  • Excellent presentation skills 

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint  

Although this may be a remote posting, the incumbent must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from one of the FDB North Carolina (Research Triangle Park, NC or Holly Springs, NC) locations.  The US salary range for this position is $100,000 to $143,000.  Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. 

 

FDBU works with technical data, technology and materials that are subject to U.S. export laws and regulations. This position will require access to technical data, technology and source code that is controlled under U.S. export laws and regulations, including but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations at 22 C.F.R. Parts 120 – 130 and Export Administration Regulations in 15 C.F.R. Part 730 – 774, as may be amended. To conform to these laws and regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., protected individuals as defined by 8 USC 1324(b)(a)(3) (i.e., asylees and refugees) or otherwise eligible for an export authorization from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.
