Job Summary:

As an Electrical Engineering Intern at Fujifilm Sonosite, you will be a member of the New Product Electrical Engineering team and can provide key product improvements through the development of power subsystem modelling, measurements, and analysis for a Point-of-Care Ultrasound system in development. You will receive mentorship from senior engineers in the EE team and become a subject matter expert (SME) and project owner for developing a holistic power subsystem model and make measurements to enable deeper understanding of system power consumption. The Intern will participate in the 2023 Intern development program, which will introduce our interns across the company to a broad view of Sonosite development and business topics.


On the technical side the intern will coordinate the development of the power subsystem model, drawing support from a dynamic multi-disciplinary team. This is an opportunity to receive mentorship from senior Electrical Engineers, develop an understanding of Ultrasound electrical system design and learn the development lifecycle & processes through inception, specification, design, development, testing, deployment into manufacturing and support. Come help us empower medical professionals to quickly image, triage and treat medical conditions which enable positive patient outcomes and change lives for patients, using our products.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop a power subsystem block diagram and create a mathematical power model
  • Identify system power states and transitions and create a “holistic” usage model
  • Develop measurement methodologies for voltage & current, including high frequency sampling
  • Measure power consumption across the entirety of the power distribution network
  • Measure system power states and thermal loading within the system
  • Analyze performance & Identify opportunities to reduce power consumption & improve cooling
  • Work cross-functionally with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical Engineering, Firmware Engineering, Silicon Engineering & Software Engineering)
  • Document and present findings
  • Conduct & participate in design reviews

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Working towards a BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (completed 2-4 years of curriculum)
  • Familiarity with power concepts & discrete sampling
  • Familiarity with circuit modeling & simulation tools (PSpice, Matlab)
  • Experience using PC based productivity tools (MS Office or Google Suite)

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, with or without accommodations

Hourly internship rate: $20.00
