Summary:

 

The Manager, Transducer Development is responsible for managing the transducer development team and for leading the team through all phases of transducer product realization.  This includes advanced simulation activities, rapid prototyping, detailed mechanical & electrical design, precision tooling development and evaluating the performance of engineering prototypes.  Works with marketing to determine the feasibility of potential new product requests. Works closely with operations to ensure supply high levels of manufacturability and all other DFx criteria are met. Creates and maintains transducer project schedules to ensure transducer projects are aligned with system programs.  Works with the leadership team through all phases of capacity and resource planning to ensure the transducer designs continue to be best in class. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversees all detailed mechanical and electromechanical designs, and constructing, evaluating the performance of engineering prototypes.
  • Works with marketing on potential new customer applications and product requests to determine feasibility & define product specifications.
  • Defines project and task priorities; identifying resource availability for all projects and determine gaps.
  • Work effectively as a leader for the Engineering team, using leadership and problem-solving skills as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the execution and control of all engineering processes and documentation
  • Responsible for the operation of all Engineering Processes in accordance with applicable internal and external quality systems and standards.
  • Provide support in the calibration and maintenance of company reference standards.
  • Guides the analysis of product failures.
  • Provide strategic input to supply chain team for critical transducer commodities such as cables, flexible circuits and PZT ceramic.
  • Create and manage annual engineering budget estimates for the transducer development team.
  • Responsible for ensuring products meet all required industry standards including environmental, product safety, and regulatory standards.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, biomedical etc.) or other technical area of study (MS preferred)
  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience, with 3-5 years’ experience managing a diverse and highly capable team is required.
  • Demonstrated success in developing, leading, and coaching teams.
  • MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Outlook, Access
  • Experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD
  • Project management fundamentals including proficiency in MS Project required. PMP certification desired but not essential. 
  • Experience working within ERP business systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience in Clean room environment preferred

Salary and Benefits:

  • $140,000 - $170,000 depending on experience + variable bonus opportunity
