The Role

 

The Production Supervisor will supervise assigned personnel in all production activities.  This position encompasses the roles of leadership, guidance and task assignment while supporting EHS initiatives to meet the production demand and upholding the highest quality standards. Daily responsibilities include effective delegation of individual task assignments along with “hands on” as needed to maintain a smooth flow of the operation.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

 

  • Plan and implement a work schedule to support a 24/5 operation. Understand and drive the execution of the daily workload with efficient utilization of available manpower in alignment with the demand.
  • Identify and communicate equipment and material needs with management, engineering and maintenance as needed to address constraints and concerns.
  • Work with little to no supervision, able to make independent decisions in accordance with established procedures and protocols. Fully understand MOC, ECN and SETCO requirements when making informed decisions and implementing them.
  • Develop individual team members and track their performance in alignment with HR policies and procedures. Train and certify individual members at the job task level.
  • Attend daily Production Scheduling meetings to keep the production department aligned with any schedule changes and operational requirements.
  • Accountable for GMP with direct reports. Ensure all documentation is complete and correct. Drive high quality standards by compliance with established policies and procedures. Write, review and approve standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Actively drive a positive work environment to promote both a safe and quality driven culture.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, ability to relate with all levels within the organization.
  • Assure departmental adherence to required training modules (CBT’s, monthly safety meetings, etc.). Drive team dynamics via team meetings and individual communication.
  • The supervisor is primarily responsible for driving the operation by effectively overseeing production, ensuring accountability, and filling the gaps as needed to support the daily activities.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Associate degree (2-yr.) or equivalent education combined with working experience in manufacturing operations is required. Must have demonstrated the ability to lead a multishift operation in an industrial setting. The individual must have 8 years of manufacturing related experience with a minimum of 3 years at the supervisory level.
  • Ability to apply conflict resolution skills to facilitate effective employee/supervisor relations is required.
  • Utilization of Root cause analysis tools (i.e. 5Y, fishbone) must be understood.
  • Good computer skills. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) software, SAP (or ERP equivalent).
  • Familiarization with scanning barcode systems is required.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Multitasking and flexibility/versatility is required.
  • Knowledge of Total Cycle Time metrics, Direct Labor metrics, Shop Floor Control processes and Safe Working Methodologies are required.
  • Formal lean training and certification is preferred; formal 6-sigma/process excellence training and certification is also preferred. Knowledge of SAP is preferred.
  • Manufacturing skillset to assist the operations team, by providing floor operations support to prevent process interruptions to meet the production demand.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment. One of the essential job functions is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
