    Job Summary:

     

    The Manager, Material Planning directs and coordinates activities of personnel related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, and planning of production materials to support manufacturing operations and logistics for Ultrasound Medical Devices.  Plans, coordinates, and directs activities of supply chain including purchasing, forecasting, material requirements planning, new product introduction, Oracle EBS business analysis and master data maintenance.

     

    Essential Job Functions:

     

    • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement and production planning and control of all production-related activities.
    • Oversee the implementation, communication and coordination of forecasts and availability related to marketing/sales promotions, new product introductions, phase-in and phase outs.
    • Oversees the SI&OP process providing direction and resolution to achieve executable results from the output of SI&OP.
    • Develops, recommends, and implements supply chain policies.
    • Develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
    • Drives rapid improvements in productivity and standardizes all applicable procedures to improve efficiency and drive cost from the business.
    • Works closely with Global Sourcing team to meet site sourcing plans.
    • Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
    • Manage purchase orders, work orders and change notices.
    • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
    • Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce inventory costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions.
    • Manages and reduces inventory by deploying Kanban, consigned and vendor-managed inventory where applicable.
    • Coordinates with finance/accounting on matters involving standard costs.
    • Updates lead-time and safety stock to optimize customer service and inventory.
    • Deploy, manage and report Class-A supply chain metrics.
    • Reviews and plans requirements for acceptable inventory. May work with internal and external vendors to comply with inventory policies.
    • Participates, reviews, and provides recommendations and oversight in forecasting, production planning, and logistics planning activities.
    • Consistently demonstrate Role Model leadership, while driving engagement through the Company employee involvement survey results
    • Directly supervises employees in the department performing purchasing, planning, and product packaging activities.
    • Responsibilities include hiring, training, developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

     

    Knowledge and Experience:

     

    • 8-10 years of supply chain management experience.
    • Minimum of five years direct purchasing management experience.
    • Medical device industry experience and GMP compliance preferred.
    • Experience with manufacturing ERP systems, preferably Oracle EBS.
    • Strong Excel experience.
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • APICS and/or ISM certifications preferred.
    • Customer focus when organizing and managing the execution of deliverables.
    • Strong team building, coaching and mentoring skills and the proven ability to work with a diverse group of people.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and utilize data, metrics, and continuous improvement tools to consistently achieve organizational objectives.
    • Experience with driving change management with demonstrated ability to influence.
    • Driven and self-motivated; Calculated risk taker with a high bias for action that achieves results.
