The Role

 

The Associate Metrology Engineer role will support CMP applications. The position works closely with, and takes direction from, CMP Applications team. Collaborates with various functional departments/teams in support of CMP technology development.  Position requires knowledge of the semiconductor process and instrumentation.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Takes direction from CMP laboratory management team in support of existing and new instruments.
  • Creates recipes and new methodology development on CMP metrology instruments.
  • Makes continuous improvements to enhance the performance of instruments.
  • Coordinates with application and formulation team to ensure tasks and projects are completed to target and on schedule.
  • Defines and maintains equipment KPI for quality, uptime and costs.
  • Takes full ownership and becomes technical expert for the respective instrument specialization.
  • Maintains SPC charts for lab equipment.
  • Documents SOP, BKM, PM of CMP instrumentation
  • Manages service contract by working with vendors and purchase team.
  • Facilitates training for other technicians/engineers for the new tools and new methodology.
  • Seeks to streamline and automate instrument data analysis and reporting.
  • Supports instrument evaluation/demo for new tools per CMP business needs.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with the semiconductor industry, CMP slurries, and polishing and metrology tools. Metrology instrument experience preferred.
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision to achieve goals in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Track record of problem solving and technical creativity
  • Knowledge of defect analysis, statistical analyses and ability to understand and interpret data, experience with Klarity software is a plus
  • Must have experience with Power Point, Excel or other software tools to generate concise presentations.
  • Must have demonstrated communication skills.
  • Proven self-starter with ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment. One of the essential job functions is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
