The Role

 

The Maintenance Manager is under the direction of the Plant Manager and is responsible for coordinating the Maintenance team for both general and preventative maintenance including the upkeep of equipment. This person ensures the team maintains and repairs electrical, pneumatic, pumps, mechanical, and related systems.  The Maintenance Manager also works with the team to ensure jobs are completed to a high standard and uses a systematic approach to ensure equipment is returned to production quickly and efficiently. This person is responsible for developing preventative and service schedules for equipment within their team and ensures compliance with the relevant safety, environmental, legal, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

 

  • Supervise & assign the work of Maintenance Technicians, Planners, Inventory Clerks, and Reliability resources.
  • Verify that all Maintenance technicians are qualified and trained to fulfill all designated tasks.
  • Responsible that all work is carried out in a safe manner in compliance with company, federal, state and local regulations and standards.
  • Ensure that the Safety Work Permit system is implemented, maintained, and always followed.
  • Lead life-critical safety programs such as Lock-out Tag-out Try, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, etc.
  • Responsible for adherence of on-site contractors to site rules and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead and maintain critical spare and general material inventory programs to be used for
  • Responsible that change management requirements are met prior to maintenance work starting and after work is completed.
  • Implement and maintain Environmental, Health, and Safety systems within the department according to company standards.
  • Prioritize workload of maintenance technicians to respond to breakdowns consistent with business needs.
  • Ensure proper use of Maintenance Software, such as CMMS, to maintain Work Order and Inventory records.
  • Coordinate, install, inspect, and/or repair and maintain the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Partner with other departments when planning work schedules to maximize total plant success.
  • Coordinate and inspect major contract work on the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in all units/locations.
  • Minimize plant downtime by providing a rapid & effective response to unplanned breakdowns.
  • Maintain process equipment and general facility to the highest standards.
  • Develop departmental KPI’s and goals & work toward achieving these targets.
  • Lead classroom-style training for capability and awareness training of maintenance topics.
  • Conduct team performance management and development plans.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • BS in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering with five plus years of experience in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities that would include the ability to recognize electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical malfunctions or equipment failures.
  • 2+ years of management experience in maintenance or other functions
  • Have a strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Possess strong knowledge of regulatory standards in Maintenance-centric functions from agencies such as OSHA, EPA, or any other relevant bodies.
  • Ability to understand complex written & oral instructions.
  • Capable of leading and developing staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects requiring project plans and budget compliance.
  • Consistently utilize a Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Capable of presenting information to company leaders, regulators, and customers in formats such as audits, formal presentations, and Town Halls.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in site’s Emergency Response Team strongly preferred.
  • Ability to identify and develop talent to strengthen team’s “bench strength” and prepare employees for growth into future opportunities.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment. One of the essential job functions is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

PAY RANGE: The pay range for this role is estimated at $110,000/yr - $120,000/yr with actual wage based on candidate’s qualifications and experience.
