The Role

 

The Chemical Process Engineer will own, optimize, and improve manufacturing processes at the site.  You will be responsible for product quality, change management, documentation, and continuous improvement activities at the site.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

 

  • Owner of manufacturing processes, product quality and work closely with internal partners to monitor, optimize and improve manufacturing processes
  • Perform process design calculations and develop deliverables such as hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, process simulations, Heat and Material Balances (H&MB), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), FMEA and Cause and Effect Diagrams (C&E)
  • Develop and maintain process engineering calculations and standards (e.g. relief valve sizing, line sizing, application of margin, etc.) Support specification and procurement of equipment such as rotating equipment and heat exchangers, vessels, filters, and columns
  • Develop and take ownership of key process philosophies (relief and blowdown, isolation for maintenance, emergency isolation, operation, and controls, sparing and training)
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of outputs
  • Tracks metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades
  • Perform chemical engineering design activities on projects from the conceptual phase through design completion and Provide process documentation and operating instructions
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment
  • Leads and Follows the MOC process, participates in PHAs and PSSRs
  • Leads/Manages quality, process, and productivity project and conducts risk assessments
  • Support and assist Lead Project Manager on large capital projects and lead small capital projects
  • Participate in the Site Vulnerability Assessment for projects, Root Cause Analysis and Accident Investigation (as requested) for incidents
  • Develop preventative maintenance schedule for all existing process equipment and support Maintenance team in execution of the preventative maintenance program
  • Support all corporate EH&S and Quality initiatives
  • Support capital projects where necessary to implement new products or processes

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is required
  • 2 to 5 years of professional experience in a chemical processing environment is required
  • In-Depth knowledge with chemical engineering unit operations: distillation, advanced filtration, mixing, and materials handling
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving
  • Ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail
  • Must possess a safety mindset and strong quality focus
  • Hands on process and mechanical experience as needed
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications or statistical software; knowledge and experience with at least one of the following: JMP, Minitab or SAS
  • Working experience with AutoCAD is required
  • This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment. One of the essential job functions is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

PAY RANGE: The pay range for this role is estimated at $115,000/yr - $130,000/yr with actual wage based on candidate’s qualifications and experience.
