Job Summary:


The Silicon Engineering Intern will experience FPGA design and verification with small projects that allow the intern to see the whole process. The intern will work with the Silicon Engineering leads/manager to define and develop enhancements to the Silicon Engineering Python tools. Additionally, the intern will work on cutting edge tools for Artificial Intelligence and implement Deep Neural Networks in an FPGA.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Implement FPGA designs in VHDL and perform simulation and hardware verification tasks.
  • Develop/enhance object oriented python scripts that automate the FPGA development process.
  • Ensure that the C++ and python coding complies with the coding guidelines.
  • Work on python tools to aid in Artificial Intelligence (Deep Learning) technology investigations.
  • Implement Deep Neural Networks on an FPGA.



Knowledge and Experience:


  • Working towards BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science undergraduate program with emphasis on digital design.
  • Basic knowledge of VHDL or Verilog language and design
  • Experience with a synthesis tool such as Intel/Altera Quartus or Xilinx Vivado
  • Experience in object oriented Python programming
  • Experience in Visual C++ programming desired
  • GIT familiarity is desired
  • Prefer some experience with TensorFlow, but not required.


Skills and Abilities:


  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both within other groups in Engineering and throughout the company.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, small team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, with or without accommodations.
