Job Summary:


Our Intern will assist with all aspects of mechanical engineering R&D including:


  • Engineering design (generation & refinement of parts using SolidWorks)
  • Engineering analyses (stress, thermal, tolerance and failure) of mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Mechanical prototype development (design, fabrication, procurement and assembly)
  • Engineering confidence testing and report generation


Essential Job Functions:


  • Solve technical issues both as an individual and as a participant on cross-functional teams
  • Participate in mechanical design and generation of engineering drawings for ultrasound devices
  • Design and generation of engineering prototypes
  • Design and fabrication of tooling & fixtures for testing
  • Conduct confidence testing & generate technical reports
  • Technical coordination with suppliers 


Knowledge and Experience:


  • Enrolled in an accredited BS or MS Mechanical Engineering program
  • Completion of coursework in engineering statics & dynamics, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and mechanical design strongly preferred
  • Experience with CAD Solid Modeling tools (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Hands-on machine shop experience a plus
  • 0-3 years of experience in a related position a plus
  • Experience with 3D printing a plus

  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to a technical audience
  • Self-driven, organized and good with time management
  • Ability to thrive in a diverse, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, with or without accommodations
