Job Purpose: The Senior Cloud Storage Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining our enterprise and cloud storage solutions, ensuring the safe and efficient storage, retrieval, protection, and integrity of data across our environments. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of object and file storage solutions on premise, and in the cloud.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for object and NAS storage, providing direction and technical support for storage platforms.
  • Analyze storage performance and capacity utilization and make recommendations to optimize storage protection, performance, utilization, and efficiency.
  • Design, deploy, configure and manage storage infrastructure to ensure the highest availability and efficiency for medical imaging workloads.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure that storage systems integrate with other systems and applications seamlessly.
  • Maintain and improve storage-related policies, procedures, and documentation, including regular patching, security remediations, and other preventative maintenance for storage platforms.
  • Design, deploy, configure and manage storage backup and disaster recovery solutions across geographic location for multiple platforms.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot storage systems to identify and resolve issues that may impact system performance or data integrity.
  • Have an intermediate understanding of Windows Server platforms, including basic patching and administration functions.
  • Deploy, administer, and support servers in different environments.
  • Support customers, both internal and external, for 24/7 data center operations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 availability for storage systems.
  • Contribute to the knowledge base through documentation and communication with the team, including creating work instructions, documentation, and dedicated training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Technology (IT) Systems, Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum five years building and supporting enterprise file storage systems, including network attached storage and object storage.
  • Minimum five years of system, network and/or application administration.
  • Experience working remotely in mission-critical, operations support environment.
  • Relevant cloud storage certifications such as AWS certified solutions architect associate or AWS Certified Advanced Storage or NetApp Certified Storage Associate are a plus.
  • Must be capable of quickly picking up new concepts and be able to execute them effectively.
  • Have a complete understanding and ability to troubleshoot the various systems and their interdependencies.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in high pressure situations and successfully handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Must be able to adapt and handle a varied workload and able to re-prioritize in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Must be able to self-manage time and tasks efficiently to complete obligations without the need for direct supervision.
  • Ability to make solid progress in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge.
  • Must have the ability and confidence to take on the technical lead for operational teams.
  • Show leadership by contributing ideas and solutions to problems.
  • Ability to decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
  • Ability to interact with other teams to diagnose and solve technical problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Ability to properly document configurations and distribute to teams and supported applications.
  • May be required to work nights and weekends during (un)planned outages and other special circumstances, will need to respond to severe incident escalation on-call by Network Operations.

Physical requirements:

The position requires the ability to perform the following physical demands and/or have the listed capabilities:

  • The ability to sit up 75-100% of applicable work time.
  • The ability to use your hands and fingers to feel and manipulate items, including keyboards, up to 100% of applicable work time.
  • The ability to stand, talk, and hear for 75% of applicable work time.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to ten pounds up to 20% of applicable work time.
  • Close Vision: The ability to see clearly at twenty inches or less.

Travel:

  • Occasional (up to 10%) travel may be required based on business need.
