Job Purpose: The Lead Cloud Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting and maintaining multiple networks across various environments. Must have experience with Cisco's Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), as well as background in supporting and maintaining VPNs. Provides cloud network design, engineering and administrative support of both physical and virtual networking devices within our Multi-Cloud environments. This includes optimizing all aspects of cloud network eco-system, including performance, resiliency, availability, resource utilization and innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical lead support for VPN infrastructure, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Maintain and improve network security controls, such as authentication and encryption protocols, to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of VPN traffic.
  • Maintain and improve network-related policies, procedures, and documentation related to network technology.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure that network infrastructure integrates with other systems and applications seamlessly.
  • Participate in technology evaluations and recommend new networking solutions that align with business needs and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network fabric and datacenter failover.
  • Deploy, administer, and support servers in different environments.
  • Support customers, both internal and external, for 24/7 data center operations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 availability for all systems.
  • Contribute to the knowledge base through documentation and communication with the team, including creating work instructions, documentation, and dedicated training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Technology (IT) Systems, Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in network engineering, with a focus on ACI and VPN technologies.
  • In depth experience in designing, implementing, and managing ACI infrastructure, including site-to-site VPNs and data center circuits.
  • In depth experience supporting and directly managing network infrastructure using Cisco's ACI architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of ACI concepts, such as Application Network Profiles (ANPs), Endpoint Groups (EPGs), and Contracts.
  • Ability to directly support ACI fabric at a senior level to ensure high availability and scalability.
  • Understanding of ACI security controls, such as micro segmentation, and ability to implement them in a multi-tenant environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to ACI and network infrastructure, including connectivity and performance issues.
  • Familiarity with other firewall networking technologies, including Cisco ASA and FTD firewalls.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and VLANs.
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools.
  • Experience with connecting private circuits (e.g. WAVE, ELINE, MPLS) to collocated datacenters, including configuring, testing, and troubleshooting network connectivity.
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and VLANs is expected.
  • Basic knowledge of networking principles in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of network security controls, such as authentication and encryption protocols.
  • Experience working remotely in mission-critical, operations support environment.
  • Relevant ACI certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional Data Center (CCNP Data Center) or Cisco Certified Specialist - ACI Implementation, are a plus.
  • AWS networking certifications such as AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate are a plus.
  • Must be capable of quickly picking up new concepts and be able to execute them effectively.
  • Have a complete understanding and ability to troubleshoot the various systems and their interdependencies.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in high pressure situations and successfully handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Must be able to adapt and handle a varied workload and able to re-prioritize in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Must be able to self-manage time and tasks efficiently to complete obligations without the need for direct supervision.
  • Ability to make solid progress in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge.
  • Must have the ability and confidence to take on the technical lead for operational teams.
  • Show leadership by contributing ideas and solutions to problems.
  • Ability to decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
  • Ability to interact with other teams to diagnose and solve technical problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Ability to properly document configurations and distribute to teams and supported applications.
  • May be required to work nights and weekends during (un)planned outages and other special circumstances, will need to respond to severe incident escalation on-call by Network Operations.

Physical requirements:

The position requires the ability to perform the following physical demands and/or have the listed capabilities:

  • The ability to sit up 75-100% of applicable work time.
  • The ability to use your hands and fingers to feel and manipulate items, including keyboards, up to 100% of applicable work time.
  • The ability to stand, talk, and hear for 75% of applicable work time.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to ten pounds up to 20% of applicable work time.
  • Close Vision: The ability to see clearly at twenty inches or less.

Travel:

  • Occasional (up to 10%) travel may be required based on business need.
