Supports all FujiFilm Dimatix employees in a wide range of purchasing functions. Duties include, but are not limited to: production part procurement, sourcing identification of potential suppliers, make vs. buy recommendations, MRO supplies & services, inventory control, continuous improvement processes, and supplier quality support, particularly for new product development and engineering changes. Responsible to ensure that suppliers meet our targets for quality, delivery, and total cost of acquisition of the products and services the company requires. Position requires a positive customer service approach and the ability to address multiple objectives in a fast-paced technology-driven environment.



  • Owns primary responsibility for the supplier relationships, including contract management.
  • Obtains quotations to select quality vendors or determine make vs. buy. Negotiates pricing.
  • Generates / uses supplier performance information to help suppliers meet targets: on-time delivery, quality, safety stocks, inventory levels, lead-times and total costs. Explicitly includes continuous improvement process.
  • Places routine and repetitive purchase orders, utilizing the formal ERP/MRP system.
  • Places Expense type purchase orders to support production tooling, Kanban replenishment, and indirect materials
  • Coordinates with Supplier Quality to insure in-spec product and address any quality issues at both the recovery stage and longer term, longer term corrective actions to resolve root causes of problems.
  • May be involved with high dollar capital equipment and complex construction contracts
  • Maintains PC based information for purchases and inventory position.
  • Expedites and troubleshoots orders when necessary. Handles return material authorizations and debit memos.
  • Provides vendor liaison to/ communication with Engineering and Production, including qualification of Supplier and product, coordination of new product or ECO cut-in, communication of requirements changes.
  • Generates change orders, order cancellations, return orders and general purchasing paperwork.



A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.


Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.    


Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.


Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 8 or more years of related experience.
  • Experience with PC software databases.
  • Facility with MS/Office (Excel, Word, etc).
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret MRP reports, purchase requisitions, RFQ’s, and supplier contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the organization.



  • Familiarity with manufacturing and engineering development operations is desirable, specifically including a wide variety of machining and forming processes, plus appropriate metrology.
  • Ability to generate quantitative improvements in supplier delivery, quality, and costs, very desirable.
  • Extensive experience in purchasing in a volume manufacturing and/or a research and development environment, including sourcing, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Experience with JIT/Lean, statistically-driven quality & process controls (Six Sigma, SPC, APQP, etc) and vendor certification.
  • Ability to understand engineering processes and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP/MRP system.
