POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Performs system engineering work of significant complexity under minimal supervision requiring a high degree of technical competence. Duties include full technical responsibility for planning, organizing and conducting technical projects within the design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components or circuitry for use in electronic and electromechanical equipment and devices.  These typically are ink jet printing systems or subsystems for internal customers.  Conceives and plans projects involving exploration of product and/or process problems, definition and selection of new concepts and approaches to the design or development of new or improved products and processes. Conducts independent technical investigations involving the application of the principles of electronics, instrumentation, and mechanical systems in the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications and requirements.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE

Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Some barriers to entry exist at this level (e.g., dept/peer review). Level at which career may plateau.

JOB COMPLEXITY

Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

SUPERVISION

Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead).

EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Design of hardware and software control systems.  Including oversight of assembly / debug / qualification / implementation.
  • Provide support for existing software & hardware.
  • Conceives and plans projects involving exploration of product and/or process problems, definition and selection of new concepts and approaches to the design or development of new or improved products and processes.
  • Conducts independent technical investigations involving the application of the principles of electronics in the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years of experience and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent.system design experience, including systems specification, verification/acceptance testing& debugging. (hardware, software, motion control, etc.)
  • Experience with C# and/or Microsoft VB.NET.

 

DESIRED:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of ink jet printing systems.
